Has this happened to any of you?

You pull up to the curb to talk to a streetwalker, chat for a little bit, she jumps in your car, and a cop sees you picking her up as you drive away with her.

What would happen? Would the cop follow? Would the cop stop you? Is it illegal?

Of course, the best strategy is to avoid that situation by carefully surveying the area for police before letting the provider into the vehicle. Years ago, however, in a moment of temporary insanity, LOL, I was foolish enough to pick up a downtown provider (whom I already knew) one night while a police officer was parked about half a block away. When I drove by the officer's vehicle with the provider in my vehicle, the officer immediately pursued and stopped me. The officer, who was a woman, questioned the provider and then ordered the provider to leave. The female officer then lectured me about how "those women" have diseases and can be dangerous. I felt like responding "If they're so bad, then why are some male police officers enjoying their services," but instead I just kept my mouth shut and didn't disagree with her, so she soon let me go with a verbal warning.

Were the actions of that police officer legally proper? If the woman who entered my vehicle late at night in a prostitution area was known or reasonably suspected by the officer to be a prostitute, I think the officer did have legal authority to temporarily stop my vehicle and investigate pursuant to the relatively low standard of "reasonable suspicion." However, neither the consenting adult woman nor I admitted to anything incriminating, so I don't think the officer had the legal authority to then order the woman to leave.

The officer didn't arrest either the woman or me, because an arrest would have required a higher standard of "probable cause" that a crime was committed. The officer had no evidence that an exchange of money for sexual conduct had been offered or agreed upon or occurred. It's not illegal merely to have a woman who happens to be a prostitute riding as a passenger in your vehicle.

Ever since that incident years ago, I've never again picked up a provider in view of a police officer. However, I've occasionally told providers whom I already know to meet at another location.

In my personal experience, as long as all the traffic laws are obeyed and everything is kept quiet and low profile, overall the police are rather lenient about downtown mongers (except for the periodic police sting operations). The police could be doing much more to harass and intimidate downtown mongers if the police chose to do so. Over the years, except for that one time when I stupidly picked up a provider in view of a police officer, I've never had a police officer stop my vehicle because I had a provider inside.

Yes he can if she's a know street walker. Yes he can haul you and her in on suspicion of solicitation. However no charges can be filed unless you admit. Point is yes they can but it would be a jack session and a waste. Of time to prove intent to solicited. Unless he's a real jerk off and wants. Following you and pulling you over is a scare tactic with the intention of stopping what's about to go down and hopefully you are scared to the point and paranoid that you won't come back again.

Happened to me years ago, stopped behind Longs to pick up the Japanese chick that use to hang with Reina, don't remember her name right now, as I pulled away a cop car came around the corner and got right up on my ass. I just drove a couple miles under the speed limit and obeyed all traffic laws and he followed me, right on my ass, all the way down King Street to the canal in Kalihi where he finally punched it and flew around me. I guess he ran my plates and didn't find anything and my safety check / registration was current so he just fucked with me for a while. She was worried because her visa was expired already and she would be deported. Don't know what they could have charged either of us with but thankfully didn't find out.

Well first of all you need to check out your surroundings and make sure when you pull over nobody else is behind you or infront of you. You know drive around a couple of times just to be sure. But if a cop does see a possible SW get in your car maybe drive around the block once and drop her off. If he pulls you over before you can drop her off, well not sure what happens then.

Was thinking LE, but I never seen one on that side of the street. They are usually across the street so that they could hit them with the maximum damage for the deed.

Here are two points that downtown mongers might want to keep in mind. First, in the past there have been LE "sting" operations on both sides of Aala Street. Second, LE sting operations on either side of Aala Street, and also on a portion of North Kukui Street, can easily be located within 750 feet of a boundary of Beretania Community Park, which increases the offense to a full misdemeanor. (Just providing some information, not trying to discourage anyone from enjoying that area.)
