No plate at a hotel is a bad idea. Most hotels have some sort of security and that would be huge red flag and would probably have a call made to someone you don't want them to call. Some hotels also have towing companies that check their lots as well. Way I deal with it in Mass most cars are required to have 2 plates. I remove from my front plate and when I park at a hotel I park front of car facing out. On my back plate I have one of those plate covers and I usually make sure between all the decals on the corner and all the muck on the cover it would pretty hard to get my plate number. As far as going to an incall in a residential area. I never park right in the driveway I usually circle around before I call and find a place to park out of view.
