GV doesn't have to be enabled at all times. Any GV calls will then go to GV voice mail. It can be linked to any phone number or none at all.

I have used burner phones in the past and one challenge is explaining to other concerned parties why you have a cheap extra phone. Before the smart phones became such an integral part of business sometimes the excuse of left the phone at the office or in the car might work, but that is not the case now.

I have switched to using Google Voice for any "non-standard" phone calls and it has worked well for me. I know of several SP's that are doing the same thing.
