I could be wrong but I do not believe the Brockton SW was doing crack. Crack is smoked, not injected. On the other hand there is no doubt in my minde that she was shooting up herion (horse, smack, H etc.) I don't do these drugs so please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

It was most likely heroin. But crack can actually be injected, although there is the extra step required to separate the cocaine from the baking soda. Fairly basic chemistry involved, you simply need to introduce an acid (vinegar or lemon / lime juice is typically used). Not exactly good for your vasculature system, but then neither is their typically non sterile technique. Not really surprising that many of them end up with phlebitis, thrombophlebitis, and endocarditis.
