Was cruising home last night and decided to swing through Curtis Bay and Brooklyn. Nothing happening in CB so I headed to Brookly and ran into Shay. Hello, Gents. I'm a long time reader of the board who has been out of the game for years, but I have a request to anyone willing to help.

One of our friends out there in the BP / CB zone (Sarah). She also introduces herself to people she doesn't know yet as Heather, has some worried family members. I saw a post on her facebook page from her Uncle hoping her friends would be able to provide some information about her because they haven't seen or heard from her in months.

I do admit that it is quite possible that her addiction is getting to a point where she has no concept of time anymore, but she has people that care for her that are very worried. I have not seen her recently, and the last known digits I had for her (from back in Feb) no longer work. If any of you run into her could you please mention my post? I'm a friend of a friend of hers and know her from her "civilian" days. I'm sure her family would love to hear from her and also help. I'm positive they are not aware that she is on the street.

I spoke with her a few weeks ago. She seemed no worse off than in the past, although she has lost some weight. If I recall correctly, she and her dirtbag boyfriend were split, at least for the moment. I lost her most recent phone number that worked or I'd call her and pass on the message.

By the way, if anyone has her number, I'd like to get it, as part of an effort to rebuild my contact list.

Dr. Immanuel Kunt, the philosopher that he is, is grappling with a practical matter. Some time ago an old SW friend wanted to re-establish contact with me. She had been an addict who had been selling herself, somewhat selectively but, hey, what's the difference. That's we met, and kept in touch over the years. Ultimately, she was able to quit the game and stopped using coke and heroin.

I don't know what she expected from me, an aging philospher who no longer is the stud he once was, but I expected a somewhat normal given-and-take relationship with a younger woman. It soured very quickly. I don't want to analyze the situation too much. After all I am Dr. Kunt, not Sigmund Freud. But I found her to be too unpredictably erratic in her behavior. She took offense far too quickly. Also the matter of money was touchy. She wanted some but did not want to feel like a working girl.

A case of damaged goods, psychologicallty, I would say.

The fling is over. Which means that I am looking, although not very hard. I am like a guy who is starting to date after lots of years. The street scene now scares me, and I have never gone the escort route. I guess my problem is that I am really looking for a GFE experience when none may be forthcoming.

Not to worry. This dilemma of a man's existence does not compare with the challenges of mankind that I deal with every day in the academia. Genug.

Once an addict always an addict (I don't mean to be harsh, but it is a fact). Although she may not currently use drugs, she has been "used" by drugs. In other words, she is tainted by the lifestyle that she once lived. I am not saying that she is a bad woman or not a nice person, but she is definitely damaged goods. It takes a very strong and stable woman to move from being a low end (again no offense to you or your gf) drug addicted sex worker that is used to a quid pro quo for EVERYTHING that she does, to a functional partner in a relationship. Just think about the average woman that has to put up with the things in her life, yet add to it years of being degraded and abused (literally and figuratively) by men in relationship dealing with intimacy, low self esteem (which probably added to her want to self medicate in the first place) , and other baggage that you will probably never know. You have just reached the tip of the iceburg.

If you don't want to deal with the drama, then you should leave her alone or be honest with her and let her know what you want. If you are one of her first relationships since being clean, you could set a very bad precedent in her life for post-addicted relationships if you don't handle this properly.

May I just opine that a recently removed post, whatever its demerits, contained valuable information that all of us should heed. For our own protection, we should try to maintain as low a profile as possible. That's why many posters remove all content from pictures that might identify the innocents. No license tags, perhaps no tattoos even. One reason I don't drive a flashy car, don't have vanity tags or bumper stickers. A surprising nunumber of johns ignore this. At their own peril.
