Same behavior as when I've been to Angel (AAA SPA) , in Weymouth (750 Broad St) or in some places in Burlington / Waltham. I know exactly where it is. On the other side there is a Firestone service, right? And some blocks away a gas station.

Anyway probably just bad luck this time!

Until and unless you know exactly what to expect and for how much, the first rule of negotiation is to make sure your first offer is rejected. If you are familiar with a place and the routine that takes place, taking the "first offer should be rejected approach" could possibly cost you in terms of service. If you become a regular, it doesn't even come up, it just happens and you tip (service & tip per the style and reputation of the establishment)
