Hi,

First I would like to state I appreciate this board and all the useful information I got from this board.

I just wanted to update the readers, from talking with two different girls living in Kensinton area, I was informed that there is a new captain of the police who wants to bring some positive changes to the Kennsington area including decreasing prostitution.

This means more patrols at different hours. Lets face it if the Philly police force put there minds to it they could EASILY stop us. Lets be clear, the bottom line is we are doing something that is illegal as it currently stands in the eyes of the law. Personally I think that it is not bad to pay for sex from some willing to do so but there are some bad things that go with street mongering. An example is recently I had a girl I was trying to "help" who ended up being 16 years old! I almost pissed my pants and was quite irate with the idea that someone so young could be in her circumstances.

On the other hand I treat all the girls with respect and kindness and (I swear) got two girls in a suboxone program [I paid for the initial visit to doctor and took them there. 300 dollars. ]. And from reading reports here most of the guys here treat the girls well and bring them some reprieve from the hell they are in.

Personally if I was the new captain I would work with the the to see if they can get loitering changed to a civil offense, increase the fine for loitering in increments (1st charge 200 dollars / second 300 and 3rd 500 dollars) , mandate HIV testing for anyone that is charged with loitering and use 1/3 of the of the income for increase free

HIV testing and needle exchanges for the girls and for friends of philly police fund.

Ok, finally here are some thoughts: read the laws of mongering on this site and always consider some strategies for dealing with the loitering. An example is to buy a.

Storage site / garage in the area and then 'order' food from any of the restaurants or for you guys that have business have some legitmate customers in the area. These are ways you can have a good reason to be there. Also go on fridays and Saturday and buy a ticket to a local club.

LEO had a mobile command RV parked on the K today. Anybody know if that is something new? I did see a really hot hispanic SW near Letterly but didn't try to pick her up because of the LE activity. This situation sucks, mainly because I'm not getting sucked.

The streets you mentioned Milo seem to be the norm. But I have encountered them more than a few times 2 or 3 streets off K, especially on the south end and typically on the east side.

1. LE has no doubt favorite locations to set up stings. Some spots are better for observation and stoping cars than others. I Street at the K should be approached with high caution. If anyone knows of other intersections that are popular with them please let us know.

2. 11PM at night. I always assumed stings were mostly a daytime activity.

I always circle the block before approaching the girl to check out the area. Missed many a good one that way but never made the headlines either.

Spoke to one of the girls today that seems to know what's going on with everything on the street. I haven't seen Holly in many months and see neither has anyone else it seems from a search for the past few months on here. Much to my dismay I was inform today that she passed away about 2 months ago of endocarditis. Has anyone else heard this because I have heard stuff like this before and it turned out to be wrong.

However she was not looking well last time I saw her, and she had spoken of being in the hospital a few times, so It's very plausible.

Come to think of it I haven't seen Holly out and about for 2 months. Sad to hear. Years ago I stopped seeing my old friend Angie around, yet heard she retired. Life on the streets is a gamble most often resulting in losses.

Was cruising the ave late last night. Drove by the bus stop and huntington and there was Darlene. Haven't seen here in years. She is clean now and looks great. For a BJ gave her a ride to work since the el wasn't running at that time.

Someone can likely confirm / deny your report, or perhaps get the story from Abdul. I will check with him in the spring when I return if no one else responds.

So far the information I am getting from other member would seem to support what I was told. She had not been well at all towards the end of 2011 and everything people have observed about her failing health jives with symptoms of Endocarditis. Rumor also has it that Ab is no longer in the business since this happened.

A priest from a Northeast Philadelphia parish was arrested last week on charges that he tried to pick up a prostitute in Kensington, police said.

The Rev. Patrick McCormick, the parochial vicar of St. Timothy Church in Mayfair, allegedly approached a police officer posing as a prostitute as part of a citywide vice unit operation on Kensington Avenue near I Street about 11 pm on Feb. 23, police said. McCormick. 48, was charged with patronizing a prostitute and entered into the Accelerated Misdemeanor Program. He was ordered to perform 18 hours of community service and pay $200 in fines, according to court records.

A spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia called McCormick's arrest "deeply troubling" and said McCormick had been placed on administrative leave

As a prosecuter told me, and I quote " I will put the officer on the stand and it will be her word against yours". That is all they have to do to get a conviction.

I served on a jury and thought the guy, [parked at 3AM in front of a house he did not belong to, with two buddies who had warrants and drugs in the car], was indeed guilty of loitering. BUT I was sternly informed that in Philly, the police make up charges all of the time, that they have notches on their belts for every arrest & conviction and that they routinely lie just to damage innocent citizens. Oh yes! When this was sternly impressed on me by the fellow sitting next to me, I saw 10 other heads bobbing in agreement. So IF that is indeed the attitude that pervades the citizenry, then I'd say, go for the jury trial!
