I've always thought that taking at least one photo in front of a known landmark provides some degree of authenticity.

Messy apartments aren't very welcoming, but I guess it's better to know ahead of time, then to find out when you get there.

Personally, I enjoy seeing photos taken in bathrooms. You know the ones, where it's hard to notice anything else other than the pimple puss squirted all over the glass mirror.
