I started mongering while living in Atlanta in '92 and for most of the next 10 years -- before I moved back to Michigan -- the ATL was indeed AMP Heaven. The AJC sports section advertised an astonishing number of them. I can't give you numbers any more, but they were a hell of a lot, and Clayton County was generally the best part of the metro area. I remember in the mid-90s at one point, counting 50 that I'd been to, about 90 percent good quality (all weren't open at the same point, but most were). I have fading memories of BBFS with a newbie who didn't even ask me for a tip, a "Minka" lookalike at Oasis in J'boro, getting a ridiculous lineup of a half-dozen beauties at one Doraville AMP, and so many more. Much of the heyday, at least for me, was before any of it was online, in the early-mid 90s.

There was a big range in quality, of course. You had to do your homework, just like now. Paradise was my favorite. Some of the Paradise regulars can chime in here.
