I happened to drive by goose today and noticed a sign in the front window stating they are closed for a remodel and will open August 9th. But usually they don't go through those extreme lengths for the AMP hobby we're talking about, so I don't think there's that much need to worry. But the short answer is yes they can. They key is to lessen the traceability of "IP fingerprints " and digital trace backs as much as possible.
If you use a Text app like text now, etc, they can resolve that data transmission to an IP address, which resolves back to provider and the phones unique chip address. All that data gets provided during the "encapsulation" phase of a transmission. And then from there they can identify you. Again, if they wanted to. They usually don't.

And for a physical burner phone, while it's more difficult, they can trace back to the store it was purchased from, date and time, and card that used to pay for it. If paid by cash, they can visit the camera archive footage and at least identify face. Again, vif they want to. And even those archives aren't kept forever unless they have long term storage rules they must comply with (Medical industry, fir example).
In short, everything is mostly traceable, but not worth the worry. I think you'd have greater probability of being struck by lightning, and if that happens, all this isn't going to matter anyway, LOL.
