Is there any safe way to make a deposit? LOL.

Are they all scams?

I personally will never send $ to anyone I don't know after being scammed when I was younger. I am willing to send $ to a provider I've met before under some situations or when I'm physically with them but that's it. Just recently, I had a woman ask if I'd be ok with her giving me the physical $ back and me sending her the donation by $app because she needed to order a ride. I totally get that need and was fine doing it, especially since it was at the end of the date.

My response to the deposit requests is "I understand the concern that lead to the request of a deposit in some situations, however I am uncomfortable sending $ to someone I have never met. If it would make you more comfortable, we can meet somewhere neutral like Starbucks then head to location and I can send you the $ once we're safely there alone together. " It shows I'm willing to work with them & am concerned for both our safety, I've rarely had issues with it and if they refuse I simply tell them I'm not comfortable with the requests they are making and will need to decline, wish them a good day and move on.

I can't imagine a "safe" way other than lucking out with a trustworthy provider. Of course they're not ALL scams, but.

I try not to tell other people what to do; but there are two reasons I wish people would stop paying deposits: 1) I don't want you to lose your money, and 2) It normalizes deposits, which are an incentive for ripoffs. If we acted shocked that someone would ask, and make it clear that we spend lot of money but never pay deposits, most of them would quit asking.

I did a deposit once before and was scammed. The bank or zelle wouldn't refund. I've been telling these girls ever since too bad so sad ever since. But this particular one was actually open to dialogue about it. I suggested using a 3rd party to hold the deposit, but of course they offered their friend, who could very well be the same person LOL. Feels different. Might lose the $100 to find out.
