I wouldn't have called the insurer. You reported it to the police and paid the person out of pocket. There is no claim or reason to report to them, unless you need to make a claim later. The police report covers the actual event if you ever filed a claim later.

In rethinking about the events, I'm not 100% sure it wasnt a scam. Except thst he gsve me a cooy of his livence, I don't understand why he wanted cash. I called my insurance company and the polic anyway. I WAS light on the details of the location becsuse I knew they wouldn't check. But I did want to report it before they cvaled to claimed I was a hit and run. ,

I made a stupid mistake. I should have known better than to go to one of these sketchcy "Best" places off of Lily pond but I've had some sucess in that area latley durring the day to see someone (doesn't matter who, this is about the place and not the girl). I always scope out the area and leave if I don't like what I see. The "Best " place is one I've never gone to before. The parking lot is tight. I didn't like what I saw and was backing out to leave and was paying more attention to who was around me (PROBABLY At LEAST 6 GIRLS FROM Skip and five other guys) and I backed into a car. Well that caused commotion and all the doors opened up to see what hppened. I thought I was screwed big time. I got out and the guy was pissed but I calmed him down. He didn't want me to call the police (I doubt I would have, it was clearly my fault and I didnt want a policeman asking me why I was there) and he. didn't want to go through insurance. I just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. The damage was minimal and he said if I paid him $200 cash he would forget about it. So I paid him. Not sure what my options were. I think this could come back to bite me but I have a picture of his licence so I think I'm good (I hope).

What would you have done? Do you think I did the right thing? All I know is it was a definite lesson learned for me. I got over confident and went somewhere I know better than to go.
