I'm sorry to say you are very Naive. If you ran or helped an Agency you will know their entire business. Overall NYC is almost dead, From Asian agencies to big names ones like Lears. Most of the Ladies are not getting any business like they used, some days it can be dead and some days maybe just 1 or 2 clients. Even some independents occasionally have to work thru agencies or travel to other parts of US that is more active.

You have guys, especially ignorant guys who just message "hi" without any proper intro, without knowing what they really want, and waste time of the provider, agency or assistant. Some of them stupidly think they talking to the model itself without knowing its the agency person or assistant.

I agree automation, better software, etc. Will all be so ideal, but cost is one factor especially when you take into account ads, increasing rent, tax, etc. Majority are now breaking even or barely going by. I even I had one very well known Asian agencies that's been in business for many years, asking me to lend money, that is how bad it is. Some of the services like SMS and bulk emails having lot of restrictions based on content, that have to do custom, and I'm been figuring out any alternate solution to help out one agency out, hence the reason I know the whole situation that majority of you guys don't know. I used to be extremely Naive, and thinking it could be whole lot of money but not much as you can expect and you can't advertise with same mentality as some Ad exec who advertises for living since its completely different landscape.

Sorry for venting out, but yea wanted to give perspective of the independent and agency's point of view that you never seen because we thinking this business they making millions which is not the case at this point especially in NYC, which is surprising.
