Gramercy is famous but I think over-rated. I was there with 2 lovely ladies recently. Nice tasting menu but price of $185 pp was too much IMO. I'd want more refined taste for that money.

Thai Villa - well at least we agree on this one. Ate at the bar a few times so there's no wait. It's popular enough that good to take a girl there too. Never got regular indoor and ate outdoor once cuz I always do a walk-in so far.

Hawksmoor. The main room is nice and grand (3 floors high ceiling? Idk maybe just 2, looks nice). The steaks just didn't do it for me. Sauce was just alright, I had peppercorn and I forgot the other one. Was there with my favorite papasan to treat him to the best meal he had in a long time and he was really happy so I was happy for that reason but I wouldn't go back myself. Too many steakhouses in NYC to re-try a so-so place (for me).

I don't feel out of place when I'm eating alone (forever alone! /sob) at the bar. The current seasonal beer on tap is a Grimm Weisse Dunkel (dark Hefeweizen) which pairs well with the spicy Thai food.

Old Town Bar https://oldtownbarnyc.com/ - another great place for solo dining. Get a hotdog & Guinness at the bar.

Sagaponack https://www.saganewyork.com/ - $2 happy hour oysters to help recharge your pee pee with solid $9 HH wines.

Lupetto https://www.lupettonyc.com/ - I think this might be the best Italian in the neighborhood. I also think they have a great bar downstairs (notice a trend yet? )

For a brisk walk, the best popcorn chicken is at Vivi bubble tea on 14th street and 6th and it's just $5 a bag. Some of us fat asses can use the 9 block walk before eating.

Thai Villa is decent. It's quite popular on 19th and 5th.
