I've had mixed results doing that and it's a violation of the hobbyist "prime directive" for many. One was a referral and the other was a provider I saw for many many years and was friendly with. I've found that the conversation in a 1/2 to 1 hr date is idle chit chat compared to a dinner or an overnighter. It's possible that you don't find them interesting and then have to suck it up while waiting for the fun part.
