Leave your wallet, phone watch, possibly even your keys locked up in your car.

Best advice right here.

Lock the stuff up in your trunk if you can. I've left my keys under a Bush or large rock located away from my car. If you have to run, go to another business if you can. The approach I take is to say as little as possible via phone / text. At most I would ask "Are you available for appt at 5 for a half hour". If I get any kind of explicit negotiation, I call it off.
