Brother, believe or not you are close to the mark. Without giving away much, a long time ago, I had to do an in-depth paper on the hobby (I chose it cause I knew my way around already, easy grade). Active monger as in forums did not exist but the going percentage of true mongers was around 15 percent. Back then the remaining 75 percent influenced some of the pricing, around 25 percent of it. Now we are talking pricing not only on SW but escorts and establishments (W houses). The 15 percent set 40 percent of the rate demand as they were established clients who brought in business AKA the other 75 percent, and whose word of mouth was precious. The remaining percentage was subject to supply and demand.

Now a days we are in an active forum that literally sets many reputations on fire, and creates legends or runs out of town the scammers. If we follow the law of internet we should be around the 20 percent or so, but like before our influence is heavy, just like the 3 percenters influence our world. We cannot set the price on everything, true. But if for every ten established SPs our forum and influence nets 4 as price worthy, reliable, and fun, then that is not too shabby of a deal.

Both of these arguments resonate with me. I've had luck contributing to price discipline and holding the prices down. AND we ARE the minority and have much less influence than we'd like. I still maintain that if most of us are willing to walk / pass on prices outside the norm, it will have a controlling affect on GPS. It will at least keep our individual average price more manageable. I've found much more willingness to negotiate than not in this biz. Just IMO, and I could be WAY wrong.
