Only until you see her 1st period will you know that she is "no longer " pregnant and that you are safe for the moment. BTW, it will take 6 weeks for her to have her 1st period after the abortion. Well you've brought up a fair point, and one I thought about after posting even before reading your response. It's not accurate to say he's off the hook even if he is in a much better place. However, the degree to which they perceive either daddy or mommy as a victim will play some role in the overall outcome, and the bottom line is that if she said she took the pill but never did and could not prove she did, he has been victimized, and if push came to shove this would help his case to some degree.

My sense is that overall he's in pretty good shape at this point, but as I said it's just a guess without knowing what type of person she is. He has taken adequate precautions to prevent (and in this case terminate) the pregnancy, so from a common sense standpoint any child that's born from this situation is purely a product of the female's decision making process rather than any carelessness on his part. How our legal system ever got to the point where the decision to have the child and thus the decision to extract financial resources from the other participant (who has no real say in the matter) can rest solely in the hands of the female (who is almost always the one in a lesser financial position and thus less capable of supporting the child) is a rather disturbing and pathetic statement about the US legal system, but it's the way it is.

I do still believe that just going dark/not answering calls or texts is not a strategy I'd recommend, because it removes the opportunity to defuse the situation and sprinkles a little "perpetrator dust" on the matter in favor of the female and to the detriment of the male, and of course does nothing to prevent any actual legal process from proceeding. I was busted with irrefutable proof. I had to own up to my actions. We've had very frank conversations about the lack of sex in our relationship over the past couple of years. In her defense, it's not for lack of desire on her part. She has developed some medical and physical issues, some of which may never go away, that limits us to once every 2 to 3 weeks or so over the past year. She feels bad for not taking care of me. Your best tool in this dilemma is your instincts about her as a person, and that's way better than advice you could receive here from anyone including myself regarding whether to trust her or not, because we don't know her and have not interacted with her. Google had https set as the default since 2010, but a user still could go into their settings to change that if they wanted. Recently they took that option away (that's what this article discusses along with google implementing SSL between their own servers). What this does is to work to prevent network sniffing and man-the-middle attacks for connection between user and google's servers. What it doesn't do is still a lot.

Just remember, google, like all email service providers, are still forced to hand over data whenever the government / LEO tells them to. If you think you are totally secure then you are wrong. I'm not writing this to start an argument, I only want to remind everyone that everything they do on the net can be exploited someway or another. I do applaud you on taking your security serious though. I would caution you on your expectations on security with google voice too. It's good for somethings but it has a lot of risks too.
