I know the ladies like that "allowance" thing, but in my experience it is nothing but an invitation to get ripped off. Once they have the money in advance, they find all sorts of excuses why they can't keep their scheduled meetings. Both of my last two SBs - one 29, one 27 - did this.
Now, I tell them right at the beginning: no up-front allowance, and I tell them why (plus my work / life schedule can be difficult, so when I make time with my SB, if she backs out it's a major inconvenience.)
