I'm curious to know the reason they gave for asking you for your license since you were parked, and Michigan is not a stop and ID state. It's not like you were Hugh Grant getting caught while getting a BJ. There would be no reason to ask for your ID If you were legally parked and your plates were good. Did they articulate a reasonable suspicion of criminal activity? That's why I have a dash cam and a cell phone at the ready to record any police interactions I may have. Some cops do back down when they see they are being recorded while you assert your rights. Driving while white in Detroit is not a crime. They fuck with me and I'm going to give it back to them. Video doesn't lie as many cops have seen. They think they are untouchable and can do whatever they want because of their qualified immunity. You can make their lives miserable by asking for their names and badge numbers. Their qualified immunity won't protect them in court when they knowingly violate our rights. Just asked the ones who lost their qualified immunity by being sued in court. They must not teach that in the academy. I was pulled over once on a pretextual stop because of my window tint. I chose the lightest tint to avoid issues associated with the dark limo tint. Everybody who has aftermarket tinted windows is in violation of the Michigan tint law from how the law reads.
