I know what you mean about suburban leo but it's not that hard to find a good spot a few miles away from the hood. Next time you're driving a few miles away from a pickup area, pay attention to places that might be spots and jot them down. Sometimes a good SP will clue you into a safe spot but, as others have said, avoid going to "their" spots.

Who has guidelines for what qualifies as a safe spot? Whether in the burbs or the hood there must be some general guidelines.
