I'm visiting next month for a few days, the I love your report / guide, I checked the Sands they say they are booked, any recommendations on places to stay in the heart of the action so can grab a girl and go right to a room closeby?

If you need a grab and go location, there are 3 MotelX Properties that charge "about" $30 for 2 hours for 2 people. Newly opened is Zada right in the Heart of the Trail at 39th and OBT. It's similarly priced and just opened last week. Don't let the website pics fool you though. If does NOT look like a modern contemporary motel. They're all a nitty, gritty, down and dirty (the good way) place to spend a couple hours with a lady.

I would not want to stay overnight in any of those properties personally. BTW, the Sands probably told you they are booked because you aren't a walk-up customer. I have no actual intel on this, but I'd be willing to bet that they don't actually deal with too many actual reservations. LOL.

If you want somewhere to actually stay, check out the properties in the New Quad (saying that they are a 2 star motel would be overly generous), the Days Inn near I-4, or down near the Old Quad where there are several properties. There are also a few more scattered to the south of the Old Quad.

Personally, when I used to stay and play years ago, I used to stay away from the Trail and take the Girls to my hotel a few miles away.

I am only going to cover the roughly 7 mile spread of Orange Blossom Trail from the 408 Toll Road area and going south on the Trail to the 528 Toll Road area. Lockhart and the areas north of the 408 are not going to be listed.

For those needing a no frills 2-hour place to take a date on the cheap: The Geneva Hotel (now MotelX) is a by-the-hour no-tel located very far north on the Trail up in the Lockhart area. MotelX also has 2 other locations on West Colonial, one near OBT and West Colonial and one on West Colonial near Hiawassee / Pine Hills area. It's about $30 for two hours. No questions asked, an identification card is asked for. You can negotiate taking a SW to one of the MotelX properties, but understand it takes time to get there from the SOBT area. A different short stay property called Zada, is opening soon in the heart of the Trail at 39th and OBT...
