Basically in 2026 Airbnb is almost always an overpriced and intrusive ripoff. Spy cameras are pretty much everywhere. And you can get a one star review if you forgot to unload the dishwasher. The few lower-priced options almost always have a pretty strict "no visitors" policy and tend to monitor who comes and goes from the property.

So just look elsewhere.

I fall in the camp of those having their location tracked, and visiting a house or apartment looks far less sketchy than a normal hotel in the middle of the day. However a quick google and Reddit search seems to show that since 2022 Airbnb has turned very strict and actively seeks to ban SW'ers and those who they think are guilty by association. Plus there's the whole "personal" aspect of the owner / manager knowing who you are, and you never know what cameras they have. Anyone had good experiences? Bad? Best practices?

Man, the whole time I'm reading that post I'm groaning. I'm glad the man came to his senses EVENTUALLY, but yikes: she stuck you for 2 Gs to fuel her alleged (I genuinely don't know, I stay far away from the SLU brothel) addiction while giving you very little back.
