I read the article which referred to undercover officer. Warrantless searches for hygiene and licenses. Police will not be able to detain a customer and request identification unless you agree to speak with them. If you get caught in this situation you simply ask if your being detained and if so why? Police have no right to detain a customer. The investigation is on the business and the employees. If they don't let you go I'd say you have a good law suit on your hands.

I wasn't going to post this as to not cause panic but after processing what happened I decided to. I had a close call yesterday after hitting a spa in West Covina.
