I've been having some bad luck with this strategy recently. Once they've got all your money upfront, seems like they have less incentive?

My experience has been, with very few exceptions, that dropping $200 up front eliminates negotiation completely and I get enthusiastically whatever the lady or location is willing to offer.

Doesn't mean that I haven't occasionally been unsatisfied with what was delivered, but broadly speaking in the past when I paid the house fee and waited to tip the service was significantly less enthusiastic. With the "all up front" approach, I feel like a worry has been lifted with the lady and she delivers nicely.

In the end, you have shops and ladies that do their best to deliver, and those that don't. If you're in touch with the mama-san, letting them know you weren't happy often leads to a discounted session with one of their best girls.

All this is just one guy's experience, and we all know that AMPs are the ultimate in YMMV. One guy's amazing is another guy's absolute shite.

At the more reputable places (and a few others) this gets me at minimum one shot and the full hour. My hope (cope) is that these other places who give you less for 200 (or more) will start getting less business and be forced to change their services and girls to match the competition. We've already seen Shanghai expand with One Spa which is great 👍.

It's the $200 up front I always put down in a friendly "that's all I brought, take it or leave it" kind of way. Lately, at a new shop, I'll put down a wrapped condom with the bills so there's no misunderstanding what I'm looking for. I've also been using ten $20 bills lately. It has a slightly higher average success rate over two $100's. Maybe subconsciously harder to ask for more when I've already dropped a stack of 10 bills?
