Some of these places have been known to run extortion scams or identity theft so what's the benefit to providing them with your DL and / or proof of employment or checking account balance info? A cop who is investigating these places could easily get a fake I'd and proof of employment from a shell company. Requesting this info from patrons literally provides them with almost no protection from LEO but it compromises every customer because now there IDs and employment info is on-hand by them and if there's a bust you'll have to explain how it was obtained and I can guarantee you they don't have good protections in place. I do fraud work and even the biggest banks have gaps to protect customer info so you better believe the local neighborhood brothel does. Literally makes no sense.
