I use TextNow. You can sign up with a dummy email address and use a fake name. Then lets you pick the area code and gives you a few numbers to choose from. It's also cool because you can use it on web, so if you're on the computer you can use it there too. (I prefer web when I can as there are no ads). Thanks to the OP for posting this. It's a great reminder to protect your personal information. In the wrong hands you become a target. It's ok to use my personal number? No it's not. It's ok to use my personal email? No it's it's not. It's ok to give out my real name? No it's not. I was on a sugar baby site for awhile. Met a girl, gave out way to much information. Next thing I know I got a text with demands. Not only demands but pics of where I work, my address, fb page etc. Pretty sure they call this extortion. It was a bad spot to be in. Got my lawyer involved and he basically told them to FO. Have to admit I was scared shitless and felt really stupid. My lawyer was like, this happens all the time, I didn't feel like such a fool, but ashamed I let my guard down and was so careless.
