Negotiating on the floor is the only way to go. You might buy a regular dance just to have that conversation. Also the cash comes after the deed. You might show it to them but careful not any more. Another strategy is to let them know up front you just want a hot warm up tease VIP and see how that goes. If the VIP gets heated, she might offer a sample or an introductory rate. This is best on a slow daytime. Also yes to at least dressing at least a little stylish. Doesn't mean you're loaded but says you're a bit cooler than the more degenerate slobs. Have learned these things the hard way.

Most dancers will open with a number that's higher than what they're willing to take. That's just basic negotiating strategy. I've had girls who insisted on a price twice what I was willing to pay come down to my number within a minute or two because she wants your money. You just have to be willing to walk away or to just get a non-extras dance if you're already in the VIP.

It's always better to have these discussions on the floor before you're already committed to the price of the room. I'll admit that I frequently haven't followed this rule in CoI, maybe because a few girls have balked at discussing extras in advance and maybe because I haven't really gotten burned by this (though I have had a few frustrating vanilla VIPs).
