Your last sentence, yes! Definitely always have Google translate app ready with her language already selected in the box so all I do is tap it open and not have to fiddle around with the phone and waste time. Also, when you open the screen, it has an option in the middle that says "conversation", use that so all you do is tap the button and talk into it and it'll translate and speak it out loud back to you so you don't have to take forever typing everything. It will do the same with her language when you tap the button again and have her talk into it. This is great so they don't try to rip you off by using the whole "sorry me no understand" line.

The service is covered unless you tip the girls an extra 40 for BBBJ (that's the only bare you get, no BBFS available) at least not from my experience. There is an Asian Apartment I have been frequenting for years around 35th and Ashland.
