Is paying for a premium account worth it on rubmaps? I did a search on here and a few years ago they said there were a lot of fake reviews, but more recent talks on other sites have said they get useful info from it. Just wondering if anyone has any personal insight on this. Thanks and stay safe!

Did you ask your friend how many of those ICU beds are normally occupied? ICU suites are massively expensive, both to build and maintain. They normally run at about 80% occupency (mostly cardiac cases) but saying that "covid patients are taking up the remaining 20% of ICU beds left over after all the rest are full of massively obese cardiac patients" doesn't generate as many clicks as "there are only 2 ICU beds beds left because of the black death. ".

I agree with you about all the clickbait bullshit the media uses to make it look as though ICU beds are just always empty and waiting when there's not a COVID pandemic. However, even if they usually are 80% occupied, the fact that they are all full of unvaxx'd folks and unavailable for a cardiac (or anyone else needing it) patient that did get vaccinated is bullshit IMO.

It's the same argument the righties use about illegal immigrant crime. They'll say a single illegal that commits a crime is one that didn't have to happen. Well, ok. A single death that would be avoidable because an unvaccinated person filled an ICU bed is a death that didn't have to happen. Over-sensationalism by the media doesn't change that.

I spoke to a nurse acquaintance leading up to my trip, and she stated that the hospitals are 95% occupied. Some places with only 1 or 2 remaining ICU beds. So take that into account as well.

As a nurse I can confirm. Unfortunately medical professionals in the valley are burnt the fuck out. You don't get the same hand holding or compassion if you are in the hospital setting, especially with rona, these days. But if you pick it up here it is usually 4 or 5 days before you have symptoms. Plenty of time to take it home to wherever you come from.
