Sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but took your post as a request on area's to stay clear of. Typically I would stay clear of anything north-northwest of downtown St. Louis out to the airport area. Exceptions would be CWE (Central West End) and UC (University City) although their northern fringes maybe questionable. South of the city "if the street is the name of a state, "Texas, Ohio, etc. " you might be better off steering clear. North County (north and northeast of airport) I can't advise, little experience. Maybe someone can add info about this area. South County generally good but not used frequently.

618 is across river in Illinois, can be good or risky. Would stay on major highways as much as possible.

Most travelers stay downtown, Clayton or west county (Chesterfield) for a reason. Some will use hotels close to the airport.

Most reputable local providers are in or use safe areas.

If you're planning on using LC or STG you're going to find them all over town.
