Criminalizing the The actions of an individual that is seeking the most basic human interaction between two individuals Is insanity if you really think about all the implications involved in this policy.

It is absolutely no interest of the government what two consenting adults do behind closed doors.

Why go after the men? Fairness. Gender plays no role here. The sting sometimes targets "johns" while at other times it targets "prostitutes. " The men are the demand side, and the women the supply. Law enforcement can attack either. The law does not discriminate.

When arrested, the police basically have two options: They can take you to jail, book you, and then either release you on you own recognizance or set bail and lock you up. The other option is release you with a citation, or what is know as a "cite out. " This citation is not your ordinary traffic ticket, however. It is a promise to appear on a Misdemeanor charge. The same appearance you would make had you been booked and bailed out or, if not bailed out, the same appearance you would make within the prescribed 72 hours of being in jail. It is basically the arraignment.

As far as the motions and delay and all, this might not be in your best interest. The problem is not going to linger and go away. It's NOT one of those "the officer won't show" tickets one can easily win by just showing up. It is NOT a traffic citation. The best way to handle this is to delay as much as possible. Hire a aggressive lawyer and have him file a bunch of motions. Plead not guilty at the arraignment & demand a trial. There is a good chance the city attorney will drop the case. If they don't then show up on the day of the trial and see if they drop the case. If not change your plea to guilty & have your lawyer negotiate a plea. The thing to remember is that these are misdemeanor cases & city attorney does not want to waste time & resources on minor offense like prostitution.

You were arrested for solicitation of prostitution 647 (b), a misdemeanor yet quite serious, and in lieu of booking / bail you were "cited out" with a promise to appear (citation).

Do NOT appear by yourself. You must retain a lawyer. I will say it again, You Must Retain a Lawyer

If, for the most part, you are a good fellow, your lawyer will make a deal, and possibly have the charge (solicitation) reduced down to something more pleasant, like disturbing the peace or some other minor infraction.

You will pay a fine and go on summary (informal) probation. You will avoid a record.

The police most likely have everything they need to convict you, but a case like this rarely goes to trial. You really need to apologize and plea for forgiveness and leniency. This is all you can really do.

I was a bit surprised that the vice was only issuing tickets Summer Stephen announced about a year ago that people arrested prostitution related violations had were required to taken to jail. My guess that is that police has changed their policy due to Covid. I have heard in the past that judges were quite hard on prostitutes. This one SW that I knew told me that when she was arrested the judge sentenced her to 2 weeks in jail. The odd thing was that this was the first time she had been arrested for prostitution.

This is far more risky for a hobbyist vis-a-vis police having to do the agreement in person! When you agree by phone, text, or whatever other form of communication, you are already half-baked in advance. All you have to do now is show, and you are done! Really screwed up crap. Moral of the story: Do not discuss sex and money with anyone, ever! However, if you must, make 100 percent sure the person is not the police first!

Try calling the cops or the hotel management and tell them that prostitution is going. LOL. Have cops go against cops. I've also read that the burden of proof is on the arrested party.
