They do not have to be registered with a real name. Boost, virgin mobile, tmobile, tracphone you can all put under a fake name. Contract phones require legal and real information. Do not renew with a credit card or bank account. Go to the shore to the kiosk or to the boost ect seller and pay cash on that number. Never use cards.

Tracfone offers these cards that double your minutes, texts, everything (I think, including the length of time the phone will stay active) every time you recharge. I forget what that first card cost initially, less than $50 I am sure. And they can connect to wi-fi so you can use that and save your minutes. But the phone sucks! Compared to my day-to-day smart-phone I might as well be using a Commodore 64. But it gets the job done. And you can download Google voice so you can use that instead of the Tracfone number. Double-blind security I guess you could say.

Go to Wal-Mart for an anonymous, over the counter Tracphone. They start at less than .5 w / minutes.

There are no fees to restart a dead Tracphone. If the phone has been expired for more than several months, Tracphone will need to send you a SIM with your new phone number. Decide.

If the Tracphone has only been expired a few months, when you go to use the phone you'll be diverted to the Tracphone auto-operator. There you'll be asked for a Tracphone card number which you can pick-up at Wal-Mart or gas station anywhere. Either way, you'll lose your banked minutes.

I can't remember how to get the new phone started exactly. I think an e-mail addy or call may be necessary. But if you need to call, use a house phone at Starbucks or somewhere with their address, etc.

If need be, just play along to your new friend like you don't know how to setup the phone. She'll know how.

If you need even more anonymity, just tip your new friend for her phone.
