Posts: 97Obviously, they can't. They're toast if they do this. If they do this, I'd be surprised if they're still around 6 months from now.

All the talk of change at the Hustler Club is disheartening. It used to be one of my favorite places. The VIP rooms are best in Detroit area IMHO. But anyways, if they are taking out the fun most will take their business elsewhere. And then mayeb the club will close down. I have been there here and there in past 6 months and the dancer quality seems to have gone downhill and not as many customers. Now throw the new policies in and you might as well shut the doors now. How can it compete with similar upscale clubs that still offer fun?

I spoke to a couple of dancers who migrated to Coliseum since the change in management. This seem confirm the reports of how disgruntled these girls are.

MSNBC is repeating the documentary "Sex Slaves in America" Monday morning at 3:00. Worth recording and watching. One segment features the Flight Club.

There are a number of "upscale" clubs in the Detroit area. My favorite is Flight Club, an easy drive from the airport. Extras can be pricey, but without extras it is quite affordable, and they have a lot of friendly, hot dancers.

Posts: 97Thanks for your input, Electronman. If these policies ARE implemented, I'd expect them to be the kiss of death for this club. Plenty of other options available nearby. It's too bad, though. This has been my "go to" club for several years now even though Flight Club is actually closer to my home. Let's hope saner heads prevail.

Posts: 78I stopped by Hustler earlier this week during the dayshift. Several of the regular day shift dancers had left. However, one of the dancers told me that what was going on in the VIP rooms was so blatant during the time the corporate rep was present that something had to be done. Apparently, some dancer and customer were going at it so hard that there was extremely loud moaning / screaming that could be heard from the VIP room. C'mon folks, be a little more discreet about your activities. For heaven's sake, if you are going to be making extremely loud noises with a dancer in the VIP, then you may want to consider simply hooking up with the dancer at a nearby hotel room after her shift. Either that or roll up one of your socks and stuff it down her throat to muffle the noise.

Posts: 996Slacker: I posted a discussion item on tuscl about a recent experience at Hustler Detroit. I'm not a dancer. I'm a customer who typically enjoys Hustler Detroit where the dancers are typically decent (not as consistently hot as Penthouse) but there is usually fun to be had in the private VIPs. I should mention that I talked with a number of dancers were pretty disgruntled with the proposed changes- some of them might have posted comments on one of the stripper webs sites.
I've copied the text of my tuscl comment below. As you read it be sure to notice that this report focuses on changes that have not yet been implemented but may well be in process. I don't visit Hustler Detroit on a regular basis so I'm hoping that some of the more frequent visitors to this club can keep us updated on any chances that are implemented by corporate headquarters. I posted the original discussion as a warning so that customers who go to Hustler Detroit expecting some fun will be aware that the club may be heading to the PG-13 category. If it does, I will take my discretionary income elsewhere. Lots of other options in the Detroit area.
From tuscl:
A recent afternoon visit to Hustler Detroit featured a short middle-aged man in baggy Levi jeans with a microphone and a questionable sense of humor. According to the staff, he was from "corporate headquarters." He was running around the dance floor arranging for promotional events, such as dollar dances (not a bad idea in that it increases interaction between the dancers and the customers) and promoting something that he called "cooter ball." Cooter ball involves several dancers sitting on stage holding a shot class in front of their bikinis while he encouraged encouraged a small group of male patrons to throw folded dollar bills at the shot glass. Any patron who "scored" got a shot poured down his throat. Cooter ball reminded me of a really bad college drinking game and most of the club customers simply stared in disbelief at the group of patrons who were throwing dollars around and consuming copious amounts of liquor.
Even more disturbing, I heard reports that the guy from corporate headquarters was planning to remove all the doors from the VIP area (one of the best features of this club) in an effort to curb any "fun" that might occur between consenting adults in the privacy of those VIP dance areas. I also heard unconfirmed reports that he had spied on a dancer and customer who were having too much fun in the VIP. He entered the room unannounced and fired the dancer and had the bouncer toss the customer from the club.
On my way out of the club I offered my opinion of the "improvements" that he was pursuing- my comment was something like, I'll direct my business to other clubs that are more respectful of privacy and more permissive of fun between consenting adults- Detroit area has a good collection of such strip clubs. His reply was Hustler is the most successful men's club in the USA and we're going to make sure that nothing illegal is going on here. I found this ironic (feel free to insert a harsher word) coming from a man who had just spent 20 minutes pouring alcohol shots down the throats of patrons who then left the club inebriated to drive the Detroit freeways. Ah yes, he was a paragon of corporate responsibility and marketing savvy.
So it appears that Hustler Detroit could be morphing into a PG-13 club- no private lap dances and very limited fun. It reminds me of my experience at the only other Hustler club that I've visited, Hustler Baltimore, where I was yelled out by the lap dance gestapo for touching a dancers hips while in the VIP (the dancer had encouraged me to do so). I find this culture shift at Hustler to be especially ironic because the founder of Hustler, Larry Flynt, was famous for legal battles to uphold free speech and to liberalize obscenity laws. Larry is still alive and, if he is not senile, I hope that someone tells him that his clubs are well on the way to senescence and irrelevance. I hope that the changes do not materialize but if they do I'll certainly take my business elsewhere. I never thought that Hustler would digress so much as to make their other corporate competitor Deja Vu look down right cutting edge.
So, if your idea of a great night out is a PG-13 topless club that promotes sophomoric games, then by all means, Hustler is for you. Me? I'll be spending my money elsewhere and hoping that the club and its corporate parent files for chapter 11 and sells the facility to someone who can run a strip club.

Anyone know anything definite about the possible changes at HC being talked about on Strip Club list? I usually read that list for the entertainment value only and don't take much of anything I read there seriously. But there's enough comments there now to make me wonder at least a little bit. Let's hope it's just another disgruntled dancer ragging on the club.

Posts: 96Room prices are determined by how busy it is; I've gotten the small rooms for nothing or $5 on slow days, and paid $25 for the Presidential suite on moderately busy days. Weekend nights are surely higher. The small rooms here are still better than other 'rooms' elsewhere.

Posts: 97Actually, the smallest rooms are $10 and the dances are $25 / song.

Posts: 89Hustler club has by far the largest and most private VIP. You basically get a private room with a large couch to hang out in. I believe it is $25 for the room and then $20 / song or whatever you can negotiate with the girl.

RCS: Did I read this right? You paid $500? Yikes. It's your money and you have the right to spend it how you want but think of the impact on stripper price expectations. I'm not saying that you or anyone should weasel prices down to a level where a stripper can't make a decent living but in my world (at least in Michigan) 500 per hour (or probably less than an hour) is an unrealistic pay scale. I won't say that I'd never pay that price but it would have to be my all-time, once-in-a-lifetime fantasy woman.
As others have pointed out, dances near shift change or closing time can often be negotiated at lower rates. Pretty straight forward economics- one last chance for a dancer to make some money to cover tip out or other expenses so a lower price is preferable over no income. Unfortunately, most strippers do not have an advanced degree in economics (I don't either) so don't be perplexed when a stripper turns down a reasonable offer ("reasonable" from the customer's perspective) and often sells no dances at a higher and often unrealistic rate. It only takes a few basic math calculations to realize that 3 x 150 is much higher than 0 x 500. But from the dancer perspective, if they can find RCS or other generous customers, then 1 x 500 can make your day even if you only sell one dance.
[QUOTE=RCS310; 1506527]Had another gal, young brunette, fairly tall, decent build. Was really close to closing time, and she got me back for a dance. Right away, offered everything for 5x$. From what I'd seen, she didn't have any luck through the night and the crowd had been light, seemed pretty desperate with her pitch (honestly desperate, too). Probably could have talked her down, but I had the cash and was feeling generous. She delivered, too, very nicely. Wish I'd thought in the moment to offer going to a room after for that kind of money, but oh well. Next time, maybe. She did offer me a "freebee" if I came to see her again, but never got the chance to.

Posts: 118I can help on a few, the Detroit scene is a topless one with a few exceptions based on local laws, etc. Deja Vu is fully nude but no alcohol, and John's Hot Spot in Ypsi is gstring and pasties.

Fees, these are general averages as I recall them and may vary buy the day / time of day. Parking $5-7, Cover $5-10, Dances $20-25 (some clubs have $10 night, usually Monday / Tuesday) , fees $10-20 to go to the back (be careful as some charge each time while some are a one time wristband charge) , extras $100. 300+ depending on what is wanted, the girl, and the club.
