I've seen Lady J 15-20 times and I've NEVER had the kind of experience you're talking about. I won't try to explain the confusion you went through because I don't know the answer, but my experiences with her would dictate that she had a legitimate reason. I know that there was some confusion, for lack of a better word, surrounding her planned retirement and then the decision not to retire, so that probably played into it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that of all the girls I've met in the hobby, Lady J has been, by far, the easiest one to deal with in terms of timeliness and communication. Simply put, I think your experience was an aberration.
