They had pending charges against the owner and the CEO all charges were dropped by a judge two weeks ago then the the re-issued different charges and those were dropped hours before the escort part of the site closed. So if you read into it they shut down the escort part of Backpage to avoid prosecution!

Then Backpage attorneys sued visa and MasterCard and they both buckled and Backpage has been taking credit card payments for months now they were only shut down about a month from taking cards!!

And the messed up part is they only shut the escort part down in the USA every other country you can still click on escort and use the site.

You may be right but it was reported in the press that their CEOs pleaded the 5th and refused to testify. What I am saying is true too. Now the reason they pulled the erotic section is up for debate. I am sure all these things came up behind closed doors.

A judge did throw out that case but don't say anything else being said is not part of the equation too. There was a hearing in congress and the top CEOs refused to testify. That is a fact too. I am sure all these things factor in. Many LEO departments have been harassing them.

Well everyone has their own opinion of why and how it happened the question is now where do we go?

Unfortunate, how this has made things difficult for us and the providers! It has been an on-going issue just like when CL took down the adult section in 2010 (I think). I have found some providers in the women seeking men on BP, but I've seen a lot over the past couple days have moved to the massage section. It almost seems as if the Massage section has even more ads than the ads under adult. Now, it just seems more difficult to differentiate who provides what. Good luck and much success!
