I had someone try this on me out of state several years ago. The request didn't come until I actually went to buy the card (I WAS a newb, afterall) and confirmed with her that I had it. She swore the number on the receipt would not release the funds. After my spicy senses told me this was bullshit, and we were at an impasse, I scratched the coating covering the card number on the actual card. Guess what? It matched the number on the receipt. Giving that info would have given her my money. I ended up using the system to simply transfer the funds back to my checking account. WTF else was I going to do with a Walmart card? LOL.
