Valet
Fear. For some men, letting another man drive their car is akin to receiving anal penetration from another man. It is the perception of violation that drives them to hoof it to the club.
No, there are other reasons. I want to be in control. Without my car keys, they are in complete control over me. Once had a girl in VIP try to rip me off on the song count. I just walked out of the club. She bitched and a bouncer followed me but I just got in the car and left. Besides, valet is such an old school stupid "luxury".
Bt's has a valet for 10 and I think subis has one for 6 or 7 bucks. Some people who refuse to pay the staggering fees will park nearby and walk. Some have an irrational fear of letting another man drive their car and walk over.
If you submit to valet parking you are surrendering your keys. They don't have to give back your car. All they have to say is they thought you might be drunk. If a dancer decides you owe her $100, they can hold your car hostage to make you pay. It is not an "irrational fear".

BT's report
Wow, much talk of valet parking lately, so, here is a post with nothing to do with valet parking. Except for the fact that I did valet park at BT's and had no issues whatsoever.
Sat at the bar and ordered a bucket of miller lites. I was hoping to see "Blue", but she was not working, so I looked around at other options. 2 different AA's chatted me up, one of them model-quality super thin amazing body and said it was her second day at the club. I think she said she was 19, don't remember name. The other one was a little chubbier, said she was 26. I didn't get quotes for services from either of them because I wasn't interested. Eventually, caught up with "Heather", thin white girl in her 30's I would say, had a great time in the VIP with her (DM me for details). Club was rocking, this was earlier in the week mid-afternoon, I saw 10-15 girls and about the same # of customers. Got a couple of drinks comped by the manager, and did a shot with the bartender. Great time at BT's. Paid the valet on my way out and amazingly they brought me my vehicle without any attempt at extortion (sarcasm). I gave the valet a 20 and said we're all set. He is a nice guy just trying to make a living like anyone else.

Good report other than

I'm surprised that your car wasn't up on blocks in the alley behind the club.

Not sure what you mean about car up on blocks? Never had that happen in BT's valet parking over the past 20 years. Is that really a thing? You tried getting your car from BT's valet parking and it was "up on blocks?" Did you file an insurance claim? What kind of vehicle was it?

That was tongue-in-cheek

You're jesting about the 10-12 beers daily and the 2. 6 carbs, right? Please tell me that you're joking.
Landing strip said it's mandatory and they don't let anyone in without it.
Tell them you took an Uber who dropped you out front. What are they going to do?
-
Is it fear or they just don't want to pay for mandatory valet?
Nope, not "fear" per se. Giving your car to a valet effectively says "Please, go through my shit", because that's exactly what's going to happen. I don't have anything particularly valuable or dangerous in my vehicle but still, it's like my privacy is being invaded by relinquishing control of it and I'm not going to do that voluntarily. Additionally, if it gets scraped or damaged, valet is simply going to deny it and say that it was like that when I pulled in. Ah, yeah. No thanks.
Now, if I could pay them, park it myself and keep the keys, I wouldn't have a problem with that. And I've tried it. A while back, I'd been reading good reports about Subi's and since it isn't terribly far away from me, I decided to go and try what I stated above. They refused and I left. It was as simple as that. On the plus side for me, my money is green everywhere and there's plenty of other clubs that will happily take it but on the downside for Subi's, they got none of it, over the cost of a $7 valet.

Masks coming back?
I sure hope that the Delta variant gets under control soon, if not its going to be a long fall and winter everywhere. It is not appealing or safe to be indoors with a bunch of unvaccinated people nor is it appealing watching strippers with face coverings on (although some look better with them on than off). I would guess that many bars / restaurants will require proof of vaccination before entering at some point which is fine with me. Thoughts?

Charge the fee
Tell them you took an Uber who dropped you out front. What are they going to do?
Probably charge the valet fee; it's essentially another cover charge.

Valet talk
For me it is not the cost, it is handing my keys over to some kid and letting them drive off and park it. As long as they allow me I am fine handing them the cash, in the overall scheme of things it is the cheapest thing you will pay for all night.

I generally like valeting. The idea of someone parking your car for you then bringing it back is incredible.
I don't like to valet at strip clubs, however. Most of these places are shady as shit to begin with, but then there's the thought of handing the keys of a $90-100 k car to a kid who's making a quarter of that this year is nuts. Granted, I'm usually in a rental in Detroit since I'm traveling for work but having to deal with rental agencies and car damage is a huge headache. Why leave these things to chance?

Valet
No one besides me misses the very cute blonde valet at BT's? She was very nice and nice to look at. I am sure one of you players scored her number at some point.

Saturday Venturing Out
Can we please get this board back on point reviewing strippers and clubs. I'm headed out Saturday about 2 pm. The Cricket used to be my go to but that has faded fast. Bogarts and Henry's used to have an occasional diamond in the rough but those have got harder and harder to find. It sounds like BT's is where it is at now.

To Valet or Not to Valet
I don't mind the valet. I literally have nothing of value in my car, though I suppose my registration gives away my full name and address. Over the years, I've had only two issues driving to a club. Once a valet lost my key fob. The valet company manager actually came out to the club to do what he could do. The club owner was there that night, and not happy about it. A valet drove me home to pick up a second fob and the valet company promised to reimburse me for a new one. The first set turned up two days later. A Good Samaritan, maybe one of you, found it in his car and returned it. If I were married, that could've been fatal. Instead, I got a few free drinks out of it and a laugh. The second was at Henry's or bogarts where someone ran into the front end of my vehicle, a mid price range "luxury" SUV, cracking the grill, bumper, and one or two insert pieces. To this day, I'm far more skittish about parking at those places than using a valet.
