Every one of us have our favorites providers and all of us uses fake emails with calling apps to keep our incognito identity a secret like the aluminati sort of way LOL. This is a new one. I've been getting calls back to back from a 916 number. Decided to answer and it's a "detective" saying they're investigating a missing person case and my number had reached out recently. Started to talk to me about back page listings and whatever. I said I had no idea and that I had just gotten the number a few days ago off TextNow which was true. He just kept going on to say "that's ok if you don't know what I'm talking about or if you believe you were not involved I will disconnect the call and a warrant will be issued for your arrest and you can deal with the court and the judge. " Weird. I said sure thing and hung up. Never even confirmed my name or who he was talking to. He named a department and badge number but that's was it. Anybody else get these calls?

I guess some people actually fall for thinking they can talk their way out of a warrant and a case over the phone by just clarifying a few details. As if a person was on the now defunct back page just looking for a penpal or some other platonic connection and once the detective hears that from you he'll be sure to make a note it was all a misunderstanding and close the file!
