I'm not surprised that Lena lives with the mamasan. Odds are that Lena entered the USA on a tourist visa with airfare paid by the mamasan with an understanding of the services to be rendered. The package deal normally would include room and board in addition to the compensation. That's why you see the turnover of staff at this place. The visas probably expired.
In the case of these woman it's unlikely they were trafficked in the traditional sense. Most likely these are women who worked in the sex trade in China and just got too old to make much money there.
True sex traffickers deal with young women who often don't know what they're getting into. (And if I can make an editorial comment, deserve a special place in hell.).
We should treat all the women well. They're just trying to make a living.

Anything from restaurant work nanny positions to massage. The entire package it's financed by the individual, male or female. The organization does not pay for any of it.

True, some girls live in residences provided by the owner. F&C is like several other shops that provide a residence for the girls. The residence is not free and it is not part of a work package. They pay monthly. Some residences are nothing more than a house, condo or apartment divided up into many curtained cubicles. Very similar to Chinese "guest houses" that are abundant in the SGV. I've seen some of these guest houses. It's amazing how many people they can pack into a two bedroom apartment or condo. And it's also amazing how there's a definite lack of cleanliness in these set ups. F&C has an arrangement that is very different from the guesthouse arrangement.
True, these girls are not forced into doing things. Most of them decide this way is the best way to make a lot of money in a short amount of time. Some of them get hooked on the amount of money that they make. Others are happy to be back in the money doing what they are doing. Then there are some that have higher aspirations. This is just a way to finance those dreams.
False, most of these girls were not in the sex industry in their home country. Most of them were gainfully employed by legitimate companies. Some of them with highly educated or technically trained backgrounds. Because they are undocumented and most of them cannot speak English, their ability to place themselves in a high paying position equal to the one they left in their home country is next to nil. Some of them take care of their familes in the old country. They send whatever they make to their families. Some of them, like Anna from F&C, did it to put their kids through university.
With China actively in promoting English in their schools, it will be interesting to see what the future crop of providers will be like. In the next five years will be seeing the products of the Chinese school system with a decent command of the English language. Actually, with better ability to speak English than most Americans.x

Haha. The classic "she wants you to read her mind" argument and subsequent fall out. There could be a myriad of reasons she got pissed and yelled, but we never seem to ever guess correctly. Yup. We've been there, done that.
Earlier this month, someone posted that C&C had re-opened. They were also good enough to post a link to the BP ad.
I took a look at the RM site. Funny: C&C's image is of the old place, and the map illustration still points to the old locationbut the address seems to have been updated (same as the BP ad).
Does anyone know if the new place has showersor does it not have showers (like the old facility?)
