Some guy in Highland Park gets in trouble.
I read the article in the tribune.

I mean what the f*k! Why didn't they put his face on a billboard on the Edens. And to ruin a guys career and business over something to do with solicitation is pure bull shit and grandstanding by an otherwise bored police department. Jeez!
But here it is in all it's glory. Of course it was important for the legislature to get this law on the books. Never mind the billions of dollars we're in debt.
The legislature fiddles while Rome burns.
(720 ILCS 5/11-14. 1)
Sec. 11-14. 1. Solicitation of a sexual act.
(a) Any person who offers a person not his or her spouse any money, property, token, object, or article or anything of value for that person or any other person not his or her spouse to perform any act of sexual penetration as defined in Section 11-0. 1 of this Code, or any touching or fondling of the sex organs of one person by another person for the purpose of sexual arousal or gratification, commits solicitation of a sexual act.
(be) Sentence. Solicitation of a sexual act is a Class A misdemeanor. Solicitation of a sexual act from a person who is under the age of 18 or who is severely or profoundly intellectually disabled is a Class 4 felony.
(be-5) It is an affirmative defense to a charge of solicitation of a sexual act with a person who is under the age of 18 or who is severely or profoundly intellectually disabled that the accused reasonably believed the person was of the age of 18 years or over or was not a severely or profoundly intellectually disabled person at the time of the act giving rise to the charge.
as i understand it the girl in question was very much ****, so this wasn't just another instance of a bored husband looking for some excitement on the side. the guy has a mental / emotional illness, and it caused him to break moral codes far more important than the civil laws designed to protect them. he needs to go away for society's sake.
the other part of this, posting the event openly, naming names, shaming the guy, and blatantly attempting to ruin his business and his life, is part of the new norm that calls for labeling providers all as "victims", and not really responsible for their actions, while re-focusing enforcement activity on the demand side, namely the clients, who obviously have the money, and ostensibly, far more to lose. the provider gets off with a minor fine, and heartfelt offers of counselling, along with a minimum wage job offer at mickey d's to "better" herself, immediately after which she goes home and posts on bp to make enough to cover her fine. meanwhile the client is seriously considering having to liquidate his business, and put his employees out of work. to a republican that's "putting a dent in crime".
let's be careful out there,

Sorry but the article said nothing about a 14 year old.
What are you talking about? The guy tried to solicit a 14 Year old girl. He deserves what he got. We don't do that around here
And now the article seems to be gone. I agree, if it's a 14 year old he should have his balls cut in public.
The Tribune didn't mention age. Spot on on the rest of your reply.

The confusion is due to two separate incidents involving Highland Park in the Trib
The Tribune didn't mention age. Spot on on the rest of your reply.
The one that I believe was posted on is a martial arts business owner busted for soliciting and his name, face and business are prominently displayed. He is most likely looking for a new job after this is over. Nice police work there <sarcasm
The other one appears to be a sting operation which lured a Bartlett guy to Highland Park by making him believe that he was going to have sex with a 14 year old girl. Pervert. Deserves what he gets and will never be cured.
