That's a VERY old saw. Tell me what movie it was quoted in (I am a movie fanatic, among other eclectic hobbies) and I will be very impressed (Googling it is not fair and much too easy; this is only a contest for the memory).
Thanks for the standing "O" vote, but I don't do anything special that anyone couldn't do with the following tools and developable skills: a vehicle, enough time and patience to thoroughly explore and understand the stroll, the experience to instantly recognize the SWs you know and/or knowing what to look for to recognize a SW you don't necessarily know, a sense of curiosity and adventure (if you want to take a chance and explore the unknown: SWs who haven't yet been reviewed), enough money to cover your hobby, understanding, liking and getting good at the process of negotiation, having or developing charm and knowing how to use it, common sense, awareness of and care regarding all the dangers and risks (the 22 mongering rules in this forum are a MUST read), knowledge of indoor places (unless you want car dates; I don't particularly care for them anymore, but to each his own) and a reasonably good digital camera and some practice using it (if you want to take pics for a record of your adventures; my camera is old and not the best, but it seems to do the job nicely with some photo editing afterward).
Am I serious about and do I thoroughly enjoy this fascinating hobby? YOU BET!

I just checked and of the last 8 pages from the pic gallery, about 90% are from you in the last two days and they could be cut down to just a few. I have a solution for you and your friends, PM the pics to those who get off on multiple pics that are almost the same.

I, for one, am thoroughly grateful to SuperE and CJ for their pictures. I find it easy indeed to open up ten or so of them, and quickly close the ones that don't interest me so much. What a stupid thing to gripe about!
It occurs to me that the outdoor pictures on the forum—SW street scenes with recon—tend to be old. Nobody seems to have taken very many of those recently. That would seem to provide a golden opportunity for certain hobbyists who comment a lot, but contribute little, to make amends.
Here are a few recent SuperE pictures, that lent themselves well to brightening up with MS Picture Viewer.
I like all the pics. If people don't like it, they don't have to look at them.

You have a common newbie misunderstanding when reading the Philly SW threads that "the K" refers to K Street. It does not. It refers to Kensington Avenue, otherwise known as "the K" or "the Avenue" or "the Ave."
Here is an old post of mine which might shed some light on your new adventures as a monger on "the K."

But on the 5th pass I found a SW I recognized that to most others might have appeared to be waiting for a bus (because it was not a known SW pickup corner), and she was just sitting there, not really looking into car windows, smiling or waving, or giving any obvious SW signals. Right after that date I picked up another I recognized just walking casually in her sweatpants and jacket, whom most might also easily have taken to be a civilian. If you have the patience, just like in fishing, it can also be better to sit on a known corner and munch a snack and listen to the radio rather than staying on the move. If a really attractive SW appears she will be taken very quickly and the likelihood you will just happen to be driving by at that moment are not good unless you are willing to invest a lot of time and make your own luck or have the digits of SWs you want to date.
This brings up another important factor if you are new to the K scene: the SWs there blend in. They are likely to be wearing jeans and a hoodie and sneakers, not 5 inch spike heels and a mini dress up to their cootchies. So if you don't know any of them you may have passed quite a few and mistakenly thought they were civilians. They aren't always posted conspicuously on a corner, smiling and waving. Sometimes they are talking on their cell phones, jawboning with a friend, or just walking along and sipping a soda.
As to where: there are 3 main concentrations of SWs: on the north end of the stroll in the Ontario to Castor area, particularly on the Castor and Ontario corners themselves and several corners just north and south of each, in the Somerset area and in the vicinity of the Woodshed, and at and in the vicinity the Huntingdon subway station (there are usually, but not always, one or 2 lurking on the block of Letterly off the K; they used to hang around the laundromat at the corner of Letterly and K, but I haven't seen any there for quite a few months now). Some of you may have a problem with all this specific information as alerting LE, but I beg to differ. All of this has been posted in here before in one way or another and it is nothing of which LE isn't already very well aware, trust me. I don't mean to taunt LE; you fellows and gals do a fine job of protecting us from the real criminals who harm us, and rob and destroy our property, and I heartily commend you for putting yourself in harm's way to do that. But even if LE chooses to lock down these locations, there is enough territory on the K to open up shop in a dozen more. I could have gathered the intel I have shared as an observant civilian in a one day investigation of K. However, BE CAREFUL how you pick up a SW. That is a whole separate issue of common sense and safety.[/QUOTE]

Some girls are nice as pie but not criminal geniuses. I think she was out less than a week before she was picked up again on the 25Th. Bail was posted on the 27Th. My guess is that she will be back out if her mother does not take her in. In the long run it would probably be better if she did not get bailed out. This is one sad story getting sadder every day.

52 weeks a year x $4000 = $208,000 a year
I guess if you try to equate that to a regularly taxed income that might be about $400,000 a year. Unless you are Warren Buffet who only pay CG taxes.
I will say that giving a little more is not always a bad thing. I am too old and too neurotic to do car dates. So my dates though they may only require 15 minutes of work will require some time getting to a indoor spot and back. I have been known to pay $80 for two cups of coffee which does not seem like a lot when compared to escorts. The added benifit is that a girl will wait to see you if you ask her to or get into your car instead of the guy who pulled up ahead of you because she knows what you will pay without a fuss. If I think she is proven she gets paid. I do not pick up many that I have no prior information on and never offer more than the standard to a newbie.

In an earlier entry, I reminisced about one whom I once dated three times in a single week. On the first of those dates, her surgical scar became a topic of conversation. These days, the field has been almost entirely overtaken by addicts. That can have its good side. Addicts can be much more uninhibited than more rationally mercenary SGs were in the old days. The addicts have driven the prices down. In constant dollars, I find the K a big bargain compared with the old days.
A huge part of what we are paying for is to be able to have sex and some sympathy without taking on ongoing commitments. What would we otherwise be paying to—for—a spouse, fiancée, etc.? At my age, the "appropriate" dates are all, alas, unalluring old ladies! That is how we ought to measure the value of what we are getting for our money. If we can be decent about it, and not make things any worse for the SGs than they will inevitably be anyhow—well and good. (That doesn't mean we ought to overpay when the supply exceeds the demand.)
It makes for some good jokes, to talk about the tax-free and overhead-free life of the SG. The oldest profession is not forced to be overpriced because liability insurance and fixed business costs are so expensive, as the younger professions often are. Speaking of overhead costs, perhaps we can take up the special economics of the pimp occupation on the K, in WG Econ 201.
Can't you tell the difference between seriousness and fun? Lighten up. Nobody thinks SWs are living a life of luxury or earning an equivalent of $400,000 annually before taxes (perhaps with good management they could be?). These numbers are all in good fun. Our tongues are planted firmly in our cheeks. We know the reality. The General Reports thread is sometimes a place to relieve the boredom and have a little diversionary discussion regarding our mongering hobby. If you want hard news, stick to the SW Reports thread.

From a distance, it seems likely your Carol is "doing dogfood." (Heroin). Check her arms for tracks. Odds are unfortunately good for that.
If so, two problems:
1) if she IS an IV drug abuser, chances are much increased that she is HIV positive. Cover up for everything, even BJ,
2) once she is high, she may become nearly unresponsive (but your reviews suggest that this may not be the case?) But the nodding off is a very common sign of "doin' dogfood."

I didn't notice tracks anywhere: arms, legs, or even between her toes.
She could be smoking or snorting it.

I didn't smell any drugs like crack in the bathroom, and you are right that she was in there much too long to be taking pills or just snorting a few lines. And you are right that Meth would be delivering the opposite symptoms of sleepiness. However, she could be snorting or smoking heroin and then zoning out for a few before coming back to the room because even pills would not be acting that fast.
