I agree w/ you, NC. A ban ought to be up to the owner of an establishment. That way, the free market --- not a bunch of pointy-headed bureaucrats or wild-eyed anti-smoking Stalinists --- will decide whether the clients [U]want[/U] a smoke-free environment or will patronize one where smoking is allowed. In other words, an owner will quickly find out if his patrons are more likely to visit if smoking is allowed or if smoking is banned.

Personally, I do [U]not[/U] smoke and never have. I don't like for cigarette smoke, but will tolerate it if I want to be in an environment where it occurs. That said, if a place allows smoking and I don't feel like being around a lot of cigarette smoke nor want it clinging to my clothes afterward, I will simply visit another establishment. I [U]refuse[/U] to impose my morals on someone else who may enjoy having a cigarette to accompany his meal, drink, or girl.

As for the girls in Waikiki and elsewhere in that island paradise (or reasonable substitute on this earthly realm), you all have some of the hottest selections I've seen: Thai, Chinese, Korean, Viet, Lao, and even the occasional Euro, black, and white. It's great here in DC-Maryland-Virginia, but you all ain't got it bad either.

Just be careful. Some folks may wanna beef with you... I was at a coffee shop yesterday and a girl was smoking outside at a table near the door. Another customer outside got all up in her shit telling her to put it out. I thought he and her boyfriend were gonna fight, but you could kind of tell her bf wasn't a fan of her smoking either.

Anyway, I've seen a couple of other heated situations besides this one since the smoking ban.

To be honest, while I wouldn't be an ass about it, I would speak up as well if someone were smoking near me in or within 20' of a public entrance (which is now the law).

I can count on TWO hands the number of close relatives (including mom & dad) whom have died from smoking related illnesses (cancer, emphysema, assorted respiratory difficulties, etc.)

Anyway, sorry for the lecture, but, just be careful...

Stopped in to see my regular,got in at around 11:30. Place was packed,no sign of my regular;but I did see Jennifer. I asked her how come she not working at the other bar. Told me she quit and now I guess working only at Asia. Saw her leave with two guys later. No sign of my regular,so I left at around 12:30.

I would disagree with your stance on smoking. By allowing smoking, you are allowing Smokers to decide if you are welcome or not. If you allow it, some people may tolerate it, because they just don't get the consequences. But the reality is, it's similar to having someone popping a drug in your drink/food or sticking a needle in your arm. They are shortening your life without your consent.

I have seen enough people die from smoking, but they did so voluntarily. Just don't force me to put up with it and face the same consequences in a public shared space.

I don't think this is a case of forcing one's morals. It's more similar to banning someone from having sex on the table next to you in the restaurant, not banning an AMP. I have a problem with banning AMP's, since it's your choice in a private room. I can understand banning people from having sex at the table in a restaurant. Would I personally object .. no; lol! I'm sure others might be offended though. I can understand drawing a line. I don't have a problem with someone smoking in their own home, again, their choice in a private room. If they set up a completely enclosed/sealed room, then that would be fine. This smoking side and non-smoking side with air freely drifting through was nonsense.

Night Colors - Nothing personal. I have a couple of friends that smoke too. I feel their pain, but I can't tell you how great it is for non-smokers, to have this law pass. This is one of those real hot button topics.

Night Colors, if they could REALLY and TRULY make it to where the air doesn't mix, then cool. But we all know that's physically impossible unless it is in a closed off area. That's too expensive for the club owners to do, unless they really take a hit from smokers not going anymore.

I know it can almost become like a religious debate, and that's too bad. Too be honest though, sometimes when I'm walking around on the street, if I walk through someone's smoke, it's all I can do to keep from spitting on them. It's like, I'm breathing smoke than was exhaled out of their bodies, so have some saliva that came out of mine...

Like I said, I know it can get radical, but inside, that's how I feel. I HATE tobacco... And no, I don't smoke marijuana either.

Anyway, just to be clear, most of the objections of non-smokers (me included) comes directly from the deaths of loved ones due to smoking. It is a hard, hard, hard to get over. Especially when the loss is recent.

I also agree with the above. Seeing a loved one die is never easy and unfortunately due to the nature of tobacco product related health complications, the death is rarely quick. It is often slow, brutal and ugly. As someone mentioned prior, smokers don't give us non-smokers a choice when they smoke in public. To make a board-related analogy, it would be like someone having sex in a public area and you catch the STD. All the drawbacks with none of the pleasure. My attitude is: "Why should I have to suffer for your friggen addiction/inability to deal problems."

The first point was that, [B]if[/B] the majority of folks prefer a [U]non-smoking[/U] environment at an establishment, a proprietor/owner who allows his patrons to smoke will quickly see business fall off.

The second point was --- and this is important to bear in mind --- we do not have a [U]right[/U] to be in a private business establishment (such as a restaurant). We are there as [U]patrons[/U] (i.e., guests). The owner can ask us to leave, is he wishes. If we wish to enter an establishment, we do so with the clear understanding that some elements of the environment may not be to our liking. This is entirely different someone "imposing" their smoke upon us. We [U]chose[/U] to enter the establishment, and we can opt to leave (or even NOT go in the first place). We are not [U]required[/U] to be at the establishment, which is different from, say, a government office such as the Division of Motor Vehicles or a courtroom. (Such places should [U]absolutely[/U] be smoke-free zones.)

Finally, I am [B]very[/B] uncomfortable with unelected bureaucrats and other pointy-headed know-nothings [U]determining for me[/U] what is best for me. In a free society such as ours, we have a right to do things to ourselves and patronize environments that may not be healthy for us. There's nothing more gratifying than to tell a smoker to stop sucking his/her pickle. The habit is unhealthy and kills, the only one's profiting are the companies manufacturing the white dildos. I have brought more friends to kb/vb's as a result of the smoking laws. Who in the world wants to have that frickin smell in your clothes when you go home?

Enough is enough already!! Look, the law has been laid down. No more smoking. Life ain't gonna change guys, so get over it! Whether you smoke or not, it's time to move on and get back to discussing the proper topics here.

Let me pose the question this way: Do you like the fact that most states outlaw the activity (i.e., mongering) to which this database is dedicated? Well, I got no problem with that.

But a lot of your other points are good and debatable.

I doubt we can ever really agree on this POLITICAL issue. I just would please like a private message on the most smoking liberal places. I'll go there and leave non-smokers alone at all the other places, fair enough, there are plenty of girls/bars to go around. What are the private rooms like at Cache? I've been in the back booths before, but I didn't enjoy it that much. I find it hard to finish when I can hear laughter and talking (when I have money to play, there always seems to be Viet dudes partying up in a group making a lot of noise, and when I'm broke, it's quiet! Damn!). And the clinking of glasses distracts me, too.

I sit with Christy sometimes, and she's offered to take me upstairs. But, I'm usually too broke. If it's a lot quieter than downstairs, I might like it. Expensive, though. She asked for $$$, and so did another girl I sat with once, a while ago.

I usually go to AMPs for the privacy (and the quiet - I go really late), but I really like Christy, and I'm thinking about spending my next play money on her.

If it's still noisy, or dirty, or not very private, maybe I'll just stick with AMPs for FS.

I'd appreciate any info on this matter.

Businesses in Hawaii really do not have a frickin choice, it's either comply with the new law or be subject to fines and penalties. And, no businesses, regardless of how much they object with a law will want to pay daily fines and penalties. I, for one, am ecstatic over Hawaii being the 14th state in the union to implement such a comprehensive law. Did you know 85% of the registered voters in Hawaii passed the law, that's a pretty overwhelming majority. Smoker's could have had there say but they must have been out on a smoke break during voting hours.

I think those are two different girls. Nicole, the one in the picture worked at Sandy and Jen's as a bartender and the current Asia bartender is Chow or Chau(sp?) is a different girl. She did work the floor at Sandy and Jen's also.

I went to Autumn Moon last night and saw a nice looking girl who said her name was Kim. Maybe early 30s, pretty cute, petite. I told her that she looked familiar (a flat out lie), and she said she used to work at Romantei (I've only been there twice, a LONG time ago, so I really wouldn't know).

She said she quit there a while ago, went to the mainland somewhere, and just got back. I forget where. But thats why I thought someone might be looking for her.

I don't know if anyone's looking for her, but I thought maybe this might help someone.

Too bad I didn't have money. When she sat next to me to try to make the sale, she did that rub-a-tittie-on-the-guy's-arm move. It's the oldest trick in the book but it gets me hot everytime. Gotta go back there with money.
