What is sex? The traditional Catholic answer.
@Nighthawk: Not to sound like President Clinton, but what is sex? If it was just friction on your dick-tion you could rub one out and save your money, or buy a rubber toy (and let's be honest, with most everything covered these days, aren't we all basically paying to fuck a little rubber bag?)
It's those other intangibles that make it worth the money.
I'll apologize for the inclusive 'we'.
As an ex-seminarian and the owner of a complete set of the 1906-7 Catholic Encyclopedia, I can give you the pre-Vatican II answer to what is "sex."
The only recognized "sex" is when the penis is inserted into a vagina and there is ejaculation. Nothing else counts. Anal, oral, Russian, manual, etc. don't count as Catholic "sex."
If you insert a condom covered penis and shoot a load, this is known as "mutual masturbation" as no ejaculation into the vagina was performed.
Since Bill Clinton went to Georgetown University and was taught by the Jesuits it is possible that his Monica "lie" was actually truthful in his mind from a strict, old fashioned Catholic viewpoint. A blowjob might still be a mortal sin in Catholic theology, but it is not "sex."
Now I've read everything!

"End Demand" Law being considered
Did you guys know that they are about to consider making solicitation a felony?
There are some other ugly parts of these proposed changes to the laws. I for one plan to call these politicians Monday and tell them how unhappy I am.
I got this from another web site.
HB6195- “End Demand” in Illinois
Illinois sex workers need your help TODAY!
The Criminal Law Committee of the Illinois General Assembly is holding a hearing on HB6195 on Monday, March 22 at 4pm. We need everyone to call and email the members of this committee TODAY stating why this bill SHOULD NOT be passed! HB6195 is problematic for many reasons-
1) The clause excluding married couples (Sec. 11-14.1) can lead to prejudicial behavior by the police against ANYONE in ANY sort of extra-marital relationship with someone perceived by law enforcement to be a prostitute.
2) Sec. 11-18. This law could effectively make it a crime to date someone law enforcement perceives to be a prostitute. This law could also be interpreted to criminalize just being in the residence of a person perceived to be a prostitute.
3) Sec. 11-19. This definition of “pimping” could include anyone in a relationship with a “prostitute” that involves income or expense sharing; including partners, children, roommates, dependent parents, or other sex workers.
4) Sec. 11-15 Raises the penalty soliciting a prostitute to a Class 3 Felony, punishable by 2-5 years incarceration and up to a $25,000 fine. This is problematic for many reasons, including: a) this forces street-level prostitutes further underground and increases the stigma they already face: forcing them to turn to even more unsafe working conditions as they struggle to make a living, b) felony convictions not only put a drain on an already over-extended legal system, but they may result in job and/ or certification loss for many professionals including lawyers, doctors, government officials, bonded drivers/ security officers, and military personnel, among others.
The full text of HB6195 is here- http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=&SessionId=76&GA=96&DocTypeId=HB&DocNum=6195&GAID=10&LegID=52182&SpecSess=&Session=
Please call or email the members of the Criminal Law Committee before Monday, March 22 and tell them to vote “NO” on HB6195.
If you don’t get an answer at one office PLEASE try the other. Time is SHORT!

The Hobby Isn't What THe Hobby Was
The base problem with the hobby at the moment is that the criminal element that has taken control of it. LE isn't after the occasional hobbyist who indulges in order remind himself his is actually still alive, but rather those providers and their "posse's" who now are a part of drug-money based organized crime. Those elements have all but taken over Craigslist and especially BackPage, and LE knows it. In the process, the semi-pro and non-pro posters have become too leery to post for fear of being busted, and genuinely having their lives ruined, while just trying to make ends meet. It's no coincidence that the busts are involving larger numbers of providers, and are based on neighborhood reports of excess traffic at all hours. Those locals don't care if a single mother is making a few bucks on the weekends down at the local "No Tell Motel", but they do care when their neighborhood is at risk because a flood of seedy and dangerous types have suddenly appeared, and it's obvious there's a lot more going on than just some harmless "slap & tickle for coin". Even though I am a dedicated hobbyist, I am going to stand on the side of LE on this one, because it appears they are doing the right thing in addressing an issue that is far larger and far more serious than most of the rest of us realize.
As for my hobbying interests, I won't use CL, or BP anymore, because whether it's LE, or the fake ads, pics, and awful providers, and those in the background supporting their habits, it's just gotten too dangerous, and money is too tight to be wasting it. I have stuck with a couple well-known and established providers whom I can trust, and have been responding to posts in the dating and casual encounters sections. Most established providers have adjusted their required donations to suit the lean times, and are thrilled to have a regular they can trust, because they too are being very careful, just as we are. Because of lower volume, the level of service has actually improved with the pros. And yes, the "casuals" postings are 99% spam, but there are still gems to be found, though it's gotten increasingly difficult.
So if you saw someone a couple of years ago, but haven't seen them post lately, and you somehow still have their number, try calling them. You might be surprised to find they are still available, and if their memory of you is positive, they might be very interested in renewing the friendship. And when you score on a non-pro posting, do her and the rest of us a favor by passing along (only with her permission) the info.
Feel free to disagree, but that's my 2 cents worth.

Well, at least the price is right

CW
Then again, I can't agree with much of anything else said herein. Since the beginning of the year, I've used BP four time. Of those, two were (I am fairly sure) independents. One of them ended up inviting me to visit her at her place, and as the saying goes, a good time was had by all. Of the other two, one I decided not to see (last-minute interference) and the other one turned out to be a flake who wouldn't answer when I made the location "call-back". So in at least 50% of the times I've used it, BP has come through. I had a "regular", but our arrangement didn't work out (she got too mercenary) and haven't found one I'm ready to label a "Keeper" since. So how else should I go about looking?
