In addition to that is there a way that it can be hidden from my SO? Can I send and receive any texts so that my SO can't track them? Any and all info on this is helpful.

D[/QUOTE]In the strongest possible terms, please don't do it. I've been on now defunct boards and have read about situations where mistakes where made in the use of ONE phone divided and used for hobby purposes and SO found out.

Plus, your smart phone and your host keeps track of calls and your location etc. Then, LE can track you very easily if they see your number on someones phone.

Please buy a burn phone. You do NOT have to give any information and can also provide a location miles from you (area code). I like Trac-phone. You can buy one with double or triple minutes for life. Cheap. Pass word protect the phone and hide it.

Coming back last year I got pulled in by Homeland Security, They said "Leave your phone on the dash" I looked out of the office and they had hooked my phone up to a computer. WTF, they down loaded all my calls and my locations, Leave you phone home. There are pay phone all over in Canada, local call. 50, you need Canadian change and all local call need the area code. So a local call in Windsor still needs the 519 area code first. Only pay phone I know in Michigan are still at most Meijer's, call to Canada are $1 for 2 minutes

Download google voice and enter your gmail info. You will get assigned a free number from which you can text and make calls from over your phones data plan. Google voice app has a password option. Mine cannot be opened until the password is entered. I've been texting and making ghost calls with this app for over a year. No trace on your phone bill except minimal data usage. I swear by it.
