The spam problem is super frustrating for us (especially for me, as I am in charge of deleting the spam ads). I know it is ruining our site, and we are trying to stop it. We're a small site though, and sometimes we get a little overwhelmed. We're getting better at handling it, but just to let you know what we're dealing with.

We do email validation on signup, so all these spammers have legitimate emails that work. They aren't using an automated process but are doing it manually. They regularly switch ip addresses.
We have a banned domain list that grows all the time, but these spammers are somehow in league with a domain registrar, so for instance, this morning they'll sign up with xyzzz.com, i'll ban that domain, and then in the afternoon they'll be signing up with zzzzzzz.com. I'll ban that domain, and so on. Others sign up with new gmail etc email addresses all the time. We have a limit on the number of ads providers can post, but that just means they sign up for many new accounts (switching to a new account each time they hit a limit).

We're working on the ability to shadow ban suspicious new signups automatically so their ads don't show up in the listings but they do show with direct links, and hopefully that will discourage them a bit. We're also going to put a "other ads by this provider" link on the ad itself, to hopefully make the spammers more obvious. Believe me though, if i could reach across the internet and strangle these guys, I would do so!.

We're having problems right now with the report spam ads system, which is probably why you never got an answer to your report, (we're working on fixing this).

I took at look at akron-canton, and these were the ads I saw posted today. (i'm sure i deleted spam ones earlier today as well, but that was from multiple areas).
All these ads look pretty legitimate to me, if you have any time, i'd really appreciate your feedback on any of the individual ads there so i can take some action if need be.
