My regular ATF and I split up after a year. With I think misplaced hope I started messing around with Tagged. I got to chatting with a country girl type for maybe a week and took her to lunch today. So unless you have your own server and provide your own email proxy etc. They can track you that way too. Better to stay away from organized groups, Madams, credit card verifying, etc. Groups. All of them put a bullseye on you. The bigger the group the more notice news groups and the law will take.

Deleting everything does not wipe a hard drive and formatting does not [always] wipe a hard drive. You'll need to take an extra step to wipe the hard drive completely.

When you format a hard drive or delete a partition, you're usually only deleting the file system, making the data invisible but not gone. A file recovery program or special hardware can easily recover the information.

If you want to make sure that your private information is gone forever, you'll need to wipe the hard drive using special software.

Important: See Tip #2 at the bottom of the page for a huge exception in Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista.

Follow these steps to completely wipe a hard drive:

Difficulty: Average.

Time Required: It could take several minutes to several hours to wipe a hard drive.

Here's How:

1.

Backup anything you want to keep. When the hard drive wipe is complete, there will be no way to get anything on the drive back.

Important: Sometimes multiple drives exist on a single hard drive. You can view the drives (volumes) that sit on a hard drive from the Disk Management tool in Windows.

2.

Download a free data destruction program. I recommend DBAN because it's easy to use and can wipe a hard drive from outside of Windows.

However, if another program in the list suites you better, by all means use it instead.

Note: There are actually several ways to completely erase a hard drive but using data destruction software is the easiest and still allows the hard drive to be used again.

3.

Burn the ISO file to a disc or complete whatever steps are necessary to install the software or get the program on a bootable disc.

4.

Wipe the hard drive according to the program's instructions.

Note: Most data destruction program utilize several different methods to wipe a hard drive. If you're curious about the effectiveness or methods used to complete the hard drive wipe, see Data Sanitization Methods.

5.

After properly wiping a hard drive, you can be confident that whatever information was on the drive is now gone for good.

You can now install Windows on the drive, create a new partition, sell or give away the hard drive, recycle or dispose of the hard drive, or whatever else you need to do.

Tips:

1.

Wiping a hard drive is operating system independent. That means that you can use this same general process to wipe a hard drive if you have Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Linux, or any other PC operating system.

2.

Beginning in Windows Vista, the format process changed and a single write zero pass is applied to each standard (non-quick) format. In other words, a very basic hard drive wipe is performed during a format.

If a single write zero pass is good enough for you, consider your drive wiped after a regular format in Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista. If you want something even more secure, go ahead and follow the hard drive wipe instructions above.

Keep in mind, too, that this is a wipe of just the partition you're formatting. If you have more than one partition on a physical hard drive, you'll need to format those additional drives as well if you want to consider the entire physical disk as "wiped".

I then put the tape on top of the magnet and let it sit. It still played. I then investigated how magnetic tape, and subsequently hard drives and computer media worked. And what it takes to erase them. High frequency, or rewriting the bits.

He's what you really need to do if you intend to destroy the Hard Drive vs. Re-use.

What you need to do is destroy the platter itself. As long as that platter is around it CAN be forensically decoded by a motivated / determined entity. Therefore complete platter destruction is most definitely preferred.

Platters are made of extremely hard metal alloy making the hammer method useless. All a hammer does is break the components of the hard drive AROUND the platter, possibly but not likely, leaving any real marks on it. It (the platter) can always be re-installed in different housing with a working "reader" to allow it to be read.

Erasers, can be effective, but work on the principle of over-writing the data with any number of layers of random patterns 1s and 0s. Data forensics have been known to be able to retrieve data even through all those layers.

As mentioned it would take one '7734' of a magnet to affect the magnetic field on the drive. How many people have access to one of these Uber-Magnets anyway? And the results can be dubious at best?

Yes, drilling of holes in the platter can help but there will still be portions of the platter left and who can tell if the holes drilled are in the places on the platter where the sensitive data is?

This is why one should dismantle the hard drive and physically destroy the platter itself.

Now is when a welding torch, preferably a "plasma cutter", can come in very handy. If you know someone who is a welder or mechanic. Someone who has a torch capable of extremely high heat. All that needs to be done is to insert the platter into a vise (after you've taken your frustrations out on it with at least an eight pound sledge hammer.) and melt it into oblivious ashes with that torch. Just be sure you either do this yourself or WITNESS it being done and you'll have nothing to worry about because it's pretty hard to "read" ASHES!

I went and saw a provider one time and she asked to see my license when I met her at the door. I showed her my license and she let me get undressed for the session. Ironically, I think some of these providers ask to see your license so they can make sure you are of legal age. Just my two cents here.
