Since this is the debate portion of the board. I posted in the DND section about my virginal first experience of getting hustled by Melissa Sue in Argyle. (the standard 'guy walks in the room after she has your money and tells you to leave' hustle). I think over and over in my head how to handle those situations. Pretty much they just want your money and you just want the doorway cleared for you to walk out and you are out 60-120 (nobody is REALLY paying more than this right?) . I think about the various ways to protect myself including the 'gun' option. But as I think through each possible scenario, this can only be used as the last resort to get out without harm, not really to escalate things and get out with your money. This is a chess game and you are in check. You can't actually shoot and have it pass a legal self defense litmus test. Worse case scenario, the D. A. Shows that YOU were there in the commission of the crime of prostitution and thus its turned into a murder charge against YOU. I know about putting the money on the counter and telling the girls not to touch it. But 99% of the time they grabbed it, counted it, and everything went fine. (even though a few services were less than expected, but no actual hustle). What do you guys do? Just stick to your rules and if the insist on grabbing and counting then you walk out? What if you count the bills in front of them, then put it by the tv? I'm trying to find alternatives / suggestions. Also, have you guys noted that this really happens during late nights only ? So would daytime mongering be better ? I usually day monger when possible.

My advice for self defense without a weapon: Throat punch. Hit them right in the trachea and they're on the ground grasping for air while you make an escape. If you really want to seal the deal kick them in the balls immediately after.

Sometimes I see the posts where people say I have a carry permit so I'm safe in these situations.

That's the biggest mistake you'll ever make in your life is drawing a firearm on someone in a situation like this. Your life will change forever instantly. The story becomes news. Family, friends and employers learn about it and the only explanation you have is some guy high as a kite guy verbally shook you down for money in a hotel room where you were seeking play for pay.

This exact scenario isn't new. I got hit with it once a while ago. I walked out and let them have their 5 minutes of glory. Then I sent a text to the girl who orchestrated it and said "tell your boyfriend to bring my money into the parking lot right now or I'm camping out here all night and raining on the next scam you try to stage on some poor fool. Next thing I know the piece of shit that thought he had the best of me came out handed me my money and I went on my way.

It is generally in the best interest of the shooter to make sure the victim is dead if you have to shoot. This is what law enforcement is taught regardless of what they say publicly, it is also why they don't seek medical assistance in most matters. Dead men don't talk is the mantra they are told over and over. Leaving only the shooters story with no counter-argument. Personally I have mixed feelings on this that go way deeper than this post, but it has been an effective defense for murder for decades.

With that said. Unless you report the incident and invoke Marsy's law, carrying a firearm with intent to commit a crime (even if the firearm was never intended to be used for said crime) is a felony. Mongering is a crime, and carrying a firearm with intent to monger is a felony, and one that can not only land you in prison, but can prevent you from ever handling a firearm again. Like most laws, this tends to be enforced arbitrarily. Depending on who you know and what you look like heavily applies to whether they would consider even charging you. McMichael is a good example of that. It is true he talked to much and it was used against him, but lets be real. He was the bad guy not a victim of his lack of silence. He was someone who acted how he has likely acted most of his life as a law enforcement officer, just he didn't have the immunity protection his badge supplied him with. Someone else did bring up money not being exchanged leaves him in the clear for other scenarios, but this is not exactly true. I already posted on this, but you do not have to of committed, or be in the act of committing a crime for the law to work against you here. You only have to have INTENT to commit a crime, which like it or not we all do when arriving at a providers location. Under most circumstances this will not apply to any of us because most soliciting charges are misdemeanors, however; as someone else pointed out. If they (the provider and DB) wanted to argue you tried to rob THEM and they were protecting themselves, now you are in armed robbery territory. And it is multiple words against yours. Depending on who you know, what you look like, your profession, and your criminal history will greatly effect how this turns out. But it can absolutely be a nightmare for you for years, even if you "win" in the end.
