If you are using your own personal phone, then you should consider getting a prepaid or second phone just for the mongering.
Never know who may use your real number against you and if you have a S/O or are married, you take a BIG risk using your own.
CD35
Good idea CD, but when you get your 9.99 trac phone from wal mart and you go on line to actavait it do not use your real name or address! I'm a maroon, yes I did this and a lady that I wish didn't have my name and address got it from my trac phone number. Damm I'm a dumb ass! oh thanks 4 the sunscreen and OJ.

Rhoku74 if you dont mind, could you say who the provider is and the number the text came from since there is a possibility that strange text may happen again but to someone else.

LE and Text Messaging
I did not get the exact same message but I got a text maybe two or three from person/s saying they were LE. First they answered the phone, I asked where the provider was and the other party said she got busted last night. Then I continued to text and I got something Like mother fucker if you keep on texting I will arrest you something to that. I forgot who the provider was but it was her phone.
Asian from Japan if I remember the name you all will know who I am talking about.
I've been on these training wheels (this means all my posts have to go to Jackson for review and a delay of approximately 24 hours takes place) anyone know how long this will be in place, I have asked Jackson numerous times with no reply and have used the contact us button with no luck so if anyone knows how long or how long they have been put on restriction in the past any info would be welcomed thank you!
Normally they will check newbies posts for a number of months before they take off the restrictions, however if there were some "situations" with your postings they may continue to monitor your posts before releasing them to the board. Not sure how you can remove the delay. I've been here for a few years but I made some comments a few years ago and so my posts are still being monitored and I have to wait until the post gets onto the board.

So true.
Plus if you offer a suggestion or advise, they get all bent outta shape.
I don't give them any cred until they get at least a few dozen decent posts.
Not to mention wackos like S***boat, etc
-you're right, time to going into lurking mode.
If you are being investigated, the police will NOT text you. If anything, they will at least call you, but all forms of investigations will be notified in person, not a text. As an earlier report stated, it would be a jealous BF (which is the MOST probable answer) or a prankster. Besides, the police doesn't really know if you could be just her friend or a brother. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I agree with P Hunter. It could be a jealous BF trying to scare you so you won't sit with the girl. Many of the "BF's" are very posessive and get jealous if a guy takes an interest in his girl. I've seen some come to the bar to harrass the customer sitting with "his" girl.
BTW, always safer to have another phone to do your mongering (tiger should have taken this advice too, LOL). If you have a SO or wife it would be highly recommended (keep the phone someplace where she can't find it). I have a virgin mobile phone, pay $20 every three months for 100 minutes so I can use it or not and store minutes and use them later. I don't use it that often so can go a month or two before I run out of minutes. For others who use minutes the $50 unlimited might be better.

I've been mongering/lurking for a long time and u right, there are a lot of noobs who don't want to do the work and ruin a good thing for all us SRs. That's why the PMs work the best.
All us SR members should use that as our new forum method and let these noobs f'n themselves trying to find the prize. That's my $0.02
Hey Brothers,
Funds have been very low so I took a break from mongering until recently and started to get funds to play (will report some stuff later).
But right now I got a question. I got a text on my phone this morning saying a phone I recently called (a provider on CL) was I confiscated by HPD. The text seems to be made from the arresting officer of the provider, and say's the my number will be added to a data base and further contact to the number is prohibited. It continues to say I will be investigated and restraining orders will be issued.
Is this for real? Anyone else out there get one of these? If so, what should I be expecting to come down the pipe at me.
Any advise will be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.
R74
Similar thing happen to a friend of mine with Sua from P10. Only he got a call from her phone and the guy claimed to be LE. Strange thing was it happen just when she got busted at P10. Can't say if your is real or fake but the content was the same. "Monitoring your number" etc. Etc. Etc. It was over a year ago and nothing happened. Like everyone else suggested, CYA!

The text was completely bogus.
1) Cops can't "prohibit" you from making phone calls. It's not illegal to call someone unless you're making harrassing/threatening calls. If a phone ever was confiscated, they would simply record the numbers stored in the phone, then turn it off and lock it in the evidence room. If it was really LE, it would be more likely that they'd WANT you to call as part of sting operation and arrest you for solicitation!
2) A restraining order is issued by a court, normally to tell you to stay away from someone (neighbor, ex-spouse/gf/etc.) The reference to the restraining order is PROOF that the text was bogus. Cops don't take out restraining orders. Cops enforce restraining orders by arresting people!
So Rhoku, breath easy. Oh, and send your pants out to be cleaned! :D
That is what I was thinking, but who knows. It seems like a bunch of providers are getting busted right now.
I was thinking that U. C. Just grouped texted everybody in the phone, but I'm not sure. The text woke my up and I was like "WTF"!
Mainly just wondering if this has happened to anyone. I know this girl was a new managed provider, maybe she did that to get the people that called or is calling to stop becasue she want out of the biz.
What a start to mongering again. I guess it's time to get a new untraceable GO phone.
R74
Heard a similar story just last year about one of my ATF's, based out of NYC, Japanese national provider with the million stage names: Mimi, Sarina, Yuki, etc. Etc. Another monger brought this (getting nasty texts from "LE") to my attention, while another dropped me the same legality info as Candy Addict. Sure hope those texts were bogus cause if Mimi ever did get caught for escort charges here in America, she would probably get shipped back to Japan and come back.

Jz is on restrictions too [blue][Indecipherable Text deleted by Admin][/blue] ?
Reminds me of having a parole officer.
[blue]Greetings Everyone,
This "report" was edited because the text contained so many strange abbreviations, misspelled words and local slang that it was literally unreadable. It was so bad that the only way I can describe it was that it looked like English translated into Chinese, then translated back to English, with every third letter subsequently deleted.
Thanks,
Jackson[/blue]

I'm no expert but it's my understanding that it's Your equipment, not that of wherever you are, so your ISP will still identify you if you are using the same phone, laptop, etc. in a different location.
