If, on the off chance she was not the source, then she could easily have picked it up from me and passed it on. Either way, if you had unprotected FS with her, it would be prudent to get yourself tested.

Out of my years of doing this I've only had unprotected FS with one lady at an AMP, and it took a while to get to that point with her. Not saying I'm the only one, but nobody has even come close to mentioning it publicly on this board, or through PMs, that they've had FS with her. I don't think the risk is very high, but there is a risk none the less, even if you have covered FS. That's a prob with HSV1 or 2. But hopefully you don't have many outbreaks and this can be easily controlled. Thanks for the heads up.

Condoms only help prevent infection of the skin covered by the condom, which as we all know means there is quite a lot of exposed skin that makes contact with the female genital area. Still, some protection is better than no protection.

2. Most people have never been tested for either HSV1 or HSV2. When people say they've been tested, what they mean is they got the standard battery of tests. This does not include HSV. It typically only includes syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and HIV. NOBODY tests for HSV without a patient very specifically requesting it. Saying "I want to get tested for everything" just gets you the standard tests, not HSV. I have been tested dozens of times in my life, but only once for HSV. The one time I made that specific request. And even then, they tried to talk me out of it. Don't believe me? Go look at your lab test results.

3. The reason for #2 is because of how widespread it is, how mild it usually is, and how little can be done about it even if a patient is aware they have it.

If you go to a medical facility and ask to be tested for STDs most providers will test you for HIV, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Hepatitis. HPV and HSV you usually have to ask for.

All that is being said here is a good topic to discuss once in awhile to remind us to think about our health as well as the HE we are looking for.
